dark syringes help keep down contams?

i was just curious about this....if you were to make a single syringe off of a print, so that the solution came out dark purple would that help reduce contam risks? like, even if some contam spores managed to make their way onto the print and thus into the fluid, would having a very dark spore solution help to reduce the risks of the contam ever getting a foot hold in the substrate?? because there would be sooo much more myc germination and growth than the contams, so that the myx would kill off the contam and flourish with out you ever even knowing the contam was there....

hmmm... interesting question, i'd imagine that it would depend on the contam(s) in question... i'm talkin out of my ass though, so anyone with some actual knowledge???

A darker syringe has more spores than a light one. More spores usualy germinate, which leads to QUICKER overall colonization.
Quicker colonization creates less chance of a contam setting in, before full colonization. So, it has a small advantage for personal use.
Vendor syringes are generally light - to almost crystal clear. So long as there are enough spores inside the syringe to do the job.... it works. Advantage to vendor is more syringes from a single print.

not really, the contams usualy show a few days after healthy looking growth begins but IME, the contams usualy win.

ok, so if the contams show after the myc growth in your experience, would you say that the contam came from the spore solution (if it were not from a vendor) or from the substrate and/or inoculation?

If a contam is also in a syringe, you are SOL.
If not, IMHO... you get a bit faster colonization from a darker syringe, than a lighter one. Simply because more spores in syringe, more germination points spread out in grain jar.
But, either way (light or dark), it is only a day or 3 differance in colonization time. Because once you are at 12 or 15%, you shake the jar anyway. Which spreads growing myc all over the jar.
I have found, if a jar contains a contam, it usualy shows up just after shaking (most of the time - for me anyway).

maybe what i should of asked from the beginning is how easily does a syringe contam? if you don't have a glovebox and work in open air, there is a short time where the print is exposed and a short time where your needle may be exposed...and then if it does manage to pick up a small amount of contams how devastating is that for that syringe?
