its safe, won't hurt potency at all. In fact, I think most people would preffer using a dehydrator for drying out the fun guys. I'm not sure about time, but when they're cracker dry, they're done.
I don't believe in an afterlife, so I don't have to spend my whole life fearing hell, or fearing heaven even more. For whatever the tortures of hell, I think the boredom of heaven would be even worse.

Works OK--potency loss w/ any method except freeze-drying is about 50%, but after that if you seal 'em up in airtight plastic & store in a cool dark place they'll keep a good long time.
Small thin-fleshed mushrooms like semilanceata, baeocystis, etc. should get completely dry within a couple of hours. Large meaty ones like cubensis should probably be left in overnight. When they break with a crispy snap they're done; if they're still kinda leathery, they need to dry longer.
