temperature/time for using a food dehydrator

I did a search and bought a nesco dehydrator and I have a couple questions. It took about 8-9 hours to dry half dollar sized cubies. I didn't split the stems down the middle, I just cut the cap off. The larger ones took about 12 hours to dry and from what I've read on this site that seemed too long so I took them out. They are ALMOST completely dry but not cracker dry. so, at 95 degrees is ok/normal to need to leave them in for 15+ hours? I figured it wouldn't hurt them but I wanted to know.
thanks

yep leave em as long as they take to dry....I've used a dehydrator with only 1 setting..the shrooms were hot to the touch when they came out and were just as potent as any others
btw I use the same dehydrator you mentioned at 95 now...sometimes big flushes take a few days to dry..again no loss in potency or at least its not noticable

I used to let them go for at least 24 hours to ensure that they were cracker dry. Too much heat is bad, but you should be fine at 95F. Big concern is moisture in the fruit after drying... they will rot... so it is better to go too long than not long enough.

thanks. How long will they last in a plastic baggie if they have the slightest amount of moisture (small yield, dried for 12 hours at 95 degrees)?
I plan on eating them Wednesday night. I put them in a baggie sunday night.

I'm sure heat can be a problem and I know its basically common knowledge...but in my acutal experience I have never had shrooms get weak from heat

Not long... few days depending on moisture content... put them in a paper sack or cardboard box... something that can breath. If they start to smell rank, like a septic tank, toss 'em.
