good thing for the mind, body and spirit
    #3646380 -

I've been surfing for a long time now, and I've just recently begun to think about how good it makes me feel. Not only is it a great full body excercise, but It gives you lots of fresh air, and just an open place to relax, and enjoy life. Just being outside in nature is extremely soothing. I often come home dead tired, and now matter how soar I get, I feel soooo damn good inside.. It like a glow that lasts a few days of happiness and well being. I know it has something to do with the endorphins from excercise etc.. but It really does work. Alot of stress/anxiety/depression gets lifted. On top of all this surfing is an amazing sport/hobby to partake in. Its not hard to learn, though a lot of people give up quick and never try again, and if you have the opportunity or live near a beach, I would strongly suggest trying it. Its a good way to meet people but not be forced into social situations, a mellow lifestyle, and is relatively cheap for such a rewarding hobby.

Do any of you surf or have ever surfed? what are your feelings about it, and do you have any questions for me?

peace

I windsurf, but the feelings you're descibing are the same I'm sure! nothing can beat it, it the absolute best
unfortunately I can't surf often here since I don't live at the sea and the few small lakes that are close are very boring for me. When I'm done with studying I'm getting myself a car so I can go to the sea more often
I even though about moving to a place where you can windsurf more often. the problem here is that you have to be lucky that the wind is strong nough and from the right direction.
I tried wave surfing a once or twice on occasion wich is also pretty cool but I'm an absolute beginner so it's hard to compare.
The advantage of windsurfing is the you're surfing all the time and with surfing your floating around in the water for 70% (?) of the time

Too bad I don't live where you are. I'd love to have a beach where I could surf (assuming someone taught me).

I wish I had enough skill to surf because I desperately need something to lift my anxiety, depression, and stress.
