Why are 1st time posters allowed in ODD now?

To put it lightly and get to the point, I don't like it.

I think it was better the other way...  When people had to wet their teeth a bit before they could get into ODD.  IMO lots of these <10 posts people are mis-posting in ODD (either posting idiocy or things that probably should go in other forums).  But I'm just one person with admittedly semi-high standards for ODD :smile:.

I agree with Delta9. Now forum restrictions for OTD isn't a great idea because than the pub and other forums are inundated with puppets and such. However, the gathering forum and the Other Drugs Discussion should not be accessible to newbies. There are plenty of other forums on the net about other drugs, people who come to this site should be coming for mushrooms primarily or social reasons. ODD should be reserved for those who have post on these forums, it should be a forum designed to answer questions about other drugs for regulars.

i think anyone should be able to reach any of these forums. maybe not post, not my call....but they should be able to learn like the rest.

If anybody knows where the thread is, I've been told there was an argument over whether DXM should be permitted in ODD and DXM users won... I'd love to see what was said, because most (a generalization to be sure) of the shitty posts in ODD are abouyt DXM or containers thereof :thumbdown:

To a point... it is fine to post about DXM as a chemical. It is not fine to post about which OTC substance (containing DXM) is best for getting high.

I had a post a while back that pointed out that not very many people at the shroomery knew enough about DXM to safely offer advice on it, as demonstrated by repeated posting of inaccurate information and the failure of others to correct it, but it didnt really go anywhere.

isnt it a little dangerous to be letting post whoring newbies and possible pre-aged members into a drug dicussion forum where its more likely for someone to get killed over misdosing or bad advice than some place like the Psychedelic Experience?

am i the first to notice that this thread is from 05 too?

colonel, take some kid like thedudenj for example, telling someone to make a brew of datura, amanita muscaria, hawaiin baby woodrose, peruvian torch, caapi, chaliponga, and viridis. i know for a fact he has never taken that combo, so imagine someone saying something like that in ODD? its obvious these numbnuts exist in the psychedelic experience, but i wouldnt be surprised to see them pop up in the ODD either.

at least the government tells you NOT to take these things, compared to "yeah dude, eat 30 of them, get fucked up, hell yeah"

kudakuda had a great idea of making it so they can read but not post, sort of like with the vets forum.
your not learning when your mouth is moving, and most newbies to the site dont know much anyways, and are here for mushroom information.
