Re: spirituality and philosophy... [Re: TheShroomHermit]

I think the problem lies in the fact that 'spirituality' and 'philosophy', though similar, are not the same things. The very title of this forum invites both idealism and pragmatism. 'Idealism', by definition, involves faith and possitivity, while pragmatism is detatched, critical, and occasionally negative. I identify more with the 'spiritual' or 'idealistic' constituents of this forum, although I do also reserve some loyalty to logic and practicality as an important component of a 'whole' understanding...

Do you know I mean?

Anyways, the point is, I agree wholeheartedly with those who've aptly described this forum as "...what you make of it...". I see the negativity of this forum as a challenge. This forum is just an accentuated example of what goes on in the rest of the world: The battle between opptimism and pessimism. When we get discouraged by other people's negativity (as we do, at times), we're just allowing the opposition to take victory. We must face the negativity courageously and win the hearts of humanity!

"You have completely misunderstood what I was trying to say, so I give up"

Do you not see that you betray yourself? You express hopelessness instead of trying to reaffirm communications. You are expressing what you have criticized.

"I said it in hope that it might start a discussion which would come to the bottom of the problem and try to solve it "

OK...your discussion is started and you want to leave? Be of good humor. All I can see is an expression of frustration, not an attempt at betterment.

I like humor.

Life is too serious to take it so seriously.

Yes and i still support splitting up S&P for that same reason. Understanding, tolerance and respect are lacking for some time, i believe this is other reason many people has stopped posting in this forum.

Then believers would become skeptics and skeptics would become believers. The idea is funny though ...
The fact is, spirituality is too often suppressed by philosophical arguments. Philosophy can be used to either support or attack spirituality, most skeptics choose the later.

It seems like people come to this forum and expect to leave it more "spiritually advanced". This is a forum... it is just for discussion about things that are spiritual. It is nothing more than people expressing what they think about spiritual things. If you want a spiritual experience ... Go on a hike, Go do some zazen for awhile, Eat mushrooms. Do anything but sit around reading a message board thinking its going to "save you".
