Phone Tappings

I am a paranoid fuck.

Is there any way to know if my phone is being tapped?

I have been hearing clickings that I have never heard before and I'm pretty worried.

yeah, tom i think it is being tapped. i was hearing shit on my phone some years ago too. after that, all the ideas me and my friends were talking about (with games) were coming out a year and a half later and shit. at the time i was into videogames and shit. your phone is tapped.

Hi Tom,
Many phone lines have pops, clicks and hisses in them. Basically its the phone signal being reamplified or its simply a power surge in the phone. If you have a phone thats on an older analog line instead of digital, you'll get many more pops, clicks and hisses.

Unless you're doing some "big" operation and have a criminal history, you're probably not being tapped. But remember, rule number one in this game is never....never.....NEVER talk on the phone about ANYTHING that you don't think people should hear!

By the year 2003, over 95% of cellular phones will have a tracking device in them. The government will use it in case of emergencies. The majority of 911 distress calls are made from ...well read it yourself:)

From everything I have read, anytime LEO puts a tap on a phone you will never know, NEVER, b/c the tech. is much more advanced. The tap would be crystal clear!
And as she said, its very rare!

As she said, never say anything which could be used aginst you on the phone. Just a good rule of thumb.

tom, dont listen to these people, u dont have to be doing a "big" operation and its not "very rare". jus dont talk business on the phone...that way whether its tapped or not it doesnt matter.

I knew I should have backed up the post on wiretaps.
It is a good thing to be paranoid. This keeps you from doing careless acts, and keeps you alert of specific situations. However it is BETTER to be informed and aware of any situation that may effect you or your freedom. For many, this includes communications. Technology is making communication so very easy, and it is making tracking the people communicating, or recording the information that is being communicated even easier. With the resources available today most anyone with a little money and know how can break into just about any type of communication, esp. telecommunications. A person with a scanner (i.e. BearCat) can listen to just about any telephone call they want to if its being made with a cordless/mobile telephone. In addition, it is not that hard to install a wiretap on a wired telephone. ANYONE!!! Leo does listen to telephone calls, they have and they will, even if it is totally against the ?law?. I am in no way an expert in the field of telecommunications, so no one should use my advice or thoughts for there own good, they should research the area themselves.

In 1999 in the United States there were only 1350 wiretaps authorized. This is all the taps authorized by the State Courts, and the Federal Government. Now I cannot even begin to make an educated guess at how many telephone lines there are in the US, but 1400 of them being recorded as taped is not a large percentage. Most of all the taps were for ?large scale criminal investigations that cross country and state boundaries?.

Now, I am not saying these numbers are correct. They are not!! It is the Government!! These are only the wiretaps that were authorized, and were needed to gather information to convict people, usually lots of people. There is still more wiretaps/ telephone surveillance that is used by the Leo. However, the average person, doing the average thing will not have a wiretap on their telephone! It pays to stay informed with these issues because it effects us worldwide!!

Well good news for all you UK people. It used to require the consent of a Magistrate to tap your phone. However thanks to Mr Straw and his Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act, your phone can be tapped without a warrant for reasons such as 'for the purpose of preventing or detecting serious crime' and 'for the purpose of safeguarding the economic well-being of the United Kingdom'.

Then again, thats why the US declared independce from the UK :)

I have just a little to add, the clicking that one hears when his phone is legally tapped(in thge us) is not a result of poor technology...it there on purpose...they "legally" must make that sound to alert one that one is being tapped.its the law they have to.so the sound would always be the same and probably at the same interval of time....of course all that is assuming they follow the law...but the only way they can convict you is to do things "legally" ,well only if you can afford a lawyer...gotta love the land of the free where ya got rights only if you can afford a good lawyer........

Okay, first off Tom I doubt you are being tapped if they had a reason to bust you they would just kick your door in, phone tapping is for big complex operations, not selling 8ths of weed! or whatever petty shit you're doing? relax! btw that picture you have is highly disturbing! I would watch my back just because of that picture alone!

second, do you honestly believe if your phone was tapped you would know by clicks and pops on the line? Are people this stupid? I hear this from a lot of people and its really a ignorant statement, why the fuck would law enforcement go through the trouble of tapping a phone if it made all this noise and gave them away, no they dont need to warn you that they tapped your line that is some real stupid shit it would defeat the purpose now wouldn't it, why dont they just mail you a letter telling you that they are going to tap your line? I wont even go into the details.

Lana, yep new phones will have GPS tracking but guess what? all cellular phones are trackable its called triangulation, you could be located within a 500 foot radius (roughly) I doubt you would ever be tracked but it is possible.
Another thing someone posted something saying you can listen to all cellular phone calls with a scanner, thats false you can only listen to analog(AMPS) phones (altho a lot of digital phones are dual band and switch when roaming) digital phones require some expensive hardware, nobody has hacked together some equipment from radio shack to spy on cdma/tdma phones yet, and gsm phones are even more difficult, I will spare the details, you are 'fairly safe' on a digital phone for now atleast.

Not so. The pigs rarely followthe law. It is standand procedure to commit perjury to get convictions. Pigs have commited perjury against me on the witness stand before, and I had a $500 / hour AV rated pit bulldog lawyer named Dean S. Hoover, one of the best in the state, and the judges' brother too. I got a walk on the case but that isn't because the pigs perjury got excluded, it was because the pigs got caught in their lie because they said witnesses heard me say what the pigs said I said. So my lawyer subpeonead the 'witnesses to the statement' and of course the cooberated that I never said what the pigs said I said because I didn't say it. And there was also an issue of the police mishandeling evidence. So the county prosecutor dropped the case to avoid losing at a trial. It's awful damn expensive to get justice. And I really was innocent of the thing, kind of ironic that of all the things I did the thing I get indicted for is what I'm actually innocent of. I hate the pigs. But those pigs will go to hell for commiting perjury so I feel better about that.

First off, scaring people and telling them whats going on is a perception that only they can have.

Secondly, the one difference between you and I is that I don't doubt what CAN be done with todays technology. If you want to sit back and know that your gov't has the capability to follow you. Be my guest. I'm just one who doesn't like to be tracked so easily. As for this expensive equipment that it takes to listen in on digital lines well..... I don't know what you consider expensive:) But I can get an Omni Spectral Correlator for $9,950. Its a nice piece of change, but its not out of range for those who actaully want to do harm with it. (So you know, its just a high tech gizmo used to track phone calls).

And another thing. How do you know whats going on in ANYONES grow operation. You accuse him of not worrying over little 1/8's and petty amounts. For all you know he could be moving pounds. Contrary to what most people think about the shroomery being a bunch of kids....there are a few who do (may I pause) ... a few who do probably grow more then they care to admit. And wether its me or someone else "scaring" people. At least they'll know the truth.

Ah okay... I dont doubt what can be done, I understand what is possible and what is likly to happen in his situation, thats a logical way of thinking when you panic and get paranoid you think of everything but what is really happening, thats the difference besides it was a breif reply nothing technical.

Yeah I have heard about it, and thats great if you would run out and buy one, the thing is if your phone was really tapped by some law enforcement group, that bug detection equipment would serve no purpose, all phone tapping is recorder at your local switch, sorry but cops dont sit in vans smoking cigs drinking coffee with reel to reel records listening to you talk on the phone via a crude electronic radio device wired to your line.

Well regardless I couldn't care whos doing what and I wouldn't post something like that to this forum even if I did know, and if people are not smart enough to figure out shit then you're in the wrong business it just comes with the territory, do your homework! 'I know of' complex hi-tech operations that are very well planned would make you piss yourself, this topic should be common sense. okay... I honestly can say I have not regarded your recent posts as too informative, scary in a alarming manner yes! and this seems to be a trend with people no adays (esp the media, maybe thats where i comes from), people post/talk nonsense that really serves no true informative/protective purpose just something to bug out about! (that is not completely directed towards you, just a general comment) that is the real weapon the gov't uses, its called ignorance.

clicks and beeps on a phone line are sometimes signs that a private investigator has tapped your line, putting another load on your line. If law enforcement wanted to hear your conversations they would just monitor the microwave signal the phone company sends to their communications satellites, you would never hear a thing because they are not actually on your line.
