Has anyone grafted PF cakes?
    #360400 - 07/24/01 11:07 PM (23 years, 1 month ago)

I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried grafting PF cakes together with different strains of Mycellium on them.

Struck me for some reason.

surprise me folks.

Grafting? You mean just sticking two cakes of differents strains together? If thats what you mean then nothing out of the ordinary would happen. Strain A would fruit on its cake, and Strain B would fruit on its side. Odds are nothing would fruit where the two were placed together, or only one strain would fruit there.

Now if your talkin about casing two diff. strains then thats even less productive. The stronger strain will overtake the weaker strain and only one will fruit OR they will fruit on their seperate portions of the casing.

I don't care about jack shit, I just wanna pick my nose!!!

True.

I was just wondering if you made strain A compete against strain B, if you might get some Tougher more resiliant shrooms... especially along the graft line.

It was just an off the wall thought.

Thats what I thought at first too, then I tried it and found out you get very few mushies because the mycelium is competing so hard for space.  I did it with PF and ecuador and got maybe 10 mushrooms. :frown:

Yep, always gotta push the envelope.  Gotta be keepin it real!
