Casing in a Bucket
    #357998 - 07/20/01 08:13 PM (23 years, 6 months ago)

Hi, I'm NugDumper, I usually post on Mycotopia, seeing as how it is down for a bit, I thought I would ask a few questions over this way. Ok I have a straight verm and cake wafer casing in a gallon ice cream bucket. The first signs of mycelium are starting to pop through the casing. Should I begin to mist now and give more air exchange? Also, what are the disadvantages to a straight verm casing?

Oooo this tea tastes like dirt, what is it....?

its supposed to be 33% of the top of casing layer has to be colonized so if its close to there then start misting and faning. the disadvantages to straight verm casings are that theyre not as good as the others. i like it though since i dont need to sterilize it.

I don't think even pinsets are necessary but they do make for nice pix.

Darlene: "Oh come now, I don't look anything like James Brown."
Ted: "Hey kids, who does your mom look like in the morning?"
Kids... in unison: "James Brown!"
Darlene, "All right, thats enough... It's poison spaghetti for dinner tonight."

It?s hard to tell the moisture by looking at it. This is better with 50/50+ casing or coir, sonce it changes color when dry.
