straight verm casing: advantages, disadvantages?

could you give me some feedback on the advantages/disadvantages of straight verm casing as opposed to other casings?

I would recommend using 50/50+. My first time casing I grew 50/50+ next to a straight verm and had a much better yield with the 50/50+. Supposedly verm is less prone to contaminants, but IME nothing has ever contaminated.

thank you, but for some reason anytime i use peat i seem to attract contams. any other thoughts?

Go with 50/50 its much better and holds more moisture thats why youll get better yields.

Do you own a PC? If so just throw your 50/50 verm mix in an autoclavable bag and PC for 45 mins at 15 psi easy as that. Then apply the mix to your casings.

If not bake it in the oven then.

Verm still works but I just believe not as good...

If you have problems with peat try a mixture of coco coir/verm.. anywhere from 75/25 to 50/50 is good.

I've got 2 B+ on grain casings side by side, and the 50/50+ is doing far better than the straight verm.
