How much straw do i need??

About how much straw will i need to have for a bulk grow using a 55 gal tupperware bin? I dont know how much is in a bale. Is 1 bale enough?

Dimensions of hay bale are about 16 X 16 X 36 inches
TIGHTLY COMMPESSED. :smirk:

1 bale is plenty for 10 tubs full.

I didnt think it would add up to that much(volume), but shit for 7 dollars a bale, straw is CHEAP.

Foaf's straw bales are 70 pounds. You should be able to get lots and lots of tubs out of a bale.

Thats 10 nice sized bins as well...

You can get little bails of straw wrapped up in plastic and cut all nice and pretty at walmart..they're 7 bucks and can only do about 2 tubs but if your looking for a small amount...each one of those should put out a good amount of mushies..1/2-1 pound for 7 bucks aint bad..better if you have space to deal with the big bails..messy as all hell though.

also how much straw should be used per quart of substrate because i have 2 quarts of malabar almost done will this beenought ot bulk or should i do a little G2G first

10% spawn rate so it would be equal to about 10 quarts of straw per quart of SPAWN (not substrate anymore). So eyeball what you think would be 20 quarts of straw (remember you compact it as much as you can with your fists once spawned) How much straw you got going? Grain to grain transfers are a cool thing too..
