fuzzbuster mannn

i dunno any real brands but my dad has one and it does a pretty good job from when i was riding with him. The thing starts beepen botu 1/4 mile or less before clocking copper with radar comes in view.

They get a lot of interference tho from like automatic door openors and stuff yer driving by.

They cant really do shit for laser even tho a lot will detect it. If the thing goes off for laser its either a wierd time of sunset and the sun reflects just right or a cop has just clocked you with laser.

There are jammers, but i have no clue to how they work. I know some are illegal. I assume they just put out radio waves in the same band that the cops check for fucking up the signal.

Bel, Beltronics.

i have had two over the course of about 7 years, and they are amazing, they have the longest distance of any radar detector, and they are the most precise when it comes to detecting cops radar over interference, therefore no false alarms, never, ever.

i can drive by people in the city or on the highway and i can see their radars going off, and mine is just quiet, i have had cheap radar detectors and they don't work well, you get so many false alarms, its annoying, and after all that beeping you will regret not saving up and buying a better one.

Bel not Del, most places sell Del, but only places that suck. best buy sell Del. circuit city sells Bel. don't know if they have either in Canada.

I've got the escort passport 8500. they came out with a new one the 8500 x50, don't know how much better it is over the 8500, but you can still get them on ebay. They are the most expensive, but they're the highest rated also. I have one and I like it a lot, but it just depends on where you are. That really determines how effective it is.

In my state, the cops are stupid and they leave their radar guns on so its easy to spot cops. Goes off all the time, and I get plenty of warning when cops are close by. I spent a few months in colorado and it was nearly worthless. The cops always do the instant on thing for their gun, so your are already tagged when your radar detector goes off. It probably went off less than 5 times(like detecting the highest signal) in a few months.

The best thing to do is just keep your eyes open. Don't just look at the bumper of the car in front of you, look farther down the road to check for speed traps and cop cars, etc.

actually if you read all the info Bel is rated higher for things that matter ( best overall performance, and best POP mode)
this POP is what was happening to you in Denver, i have to say i've driven there many times and my detector owns their shit.
mine even works for traffic cameras and it will tell you what band is hitting you, and you know if its Ka band its a cop, K band is 98% of the time a cop, and X band is just random stuff.
and cops drive with their radars on in my state too. i see/hear them coming for 3/4 a mile at least.

and anyone who thinks their radar is good i encourage them to drive through Indiana and then make your way through South Carolina, more radar than you can imagine.
and now in Indiana they are doing this clocking thing that involves watching you speed and then calculating your speed based on visual markers, then coming and getting you , no radar, and no defense, except your eyes.

The speed limit laws aren't some draconian bit of evil put in place by big brother, where you have every right to break them because they have no real basis. They're there for public safety.

Revenue enhancement.

poifect!

phluck yes i do somewhat agree. i stay at the limit when theres others on teh road. but theres somthing to going really fast that is pretty addicting. dotn know how or why and i dotn really want to get into it, but its an addiction. once the roads are people free....then i need my radar detector on. i love speed, but am not willign to risk other people. pretty much at night and on my own or the rare race i attend.

tehre are no straight tracks here, just one tiny oval and thats it...too slow to be worth the extra insurance costs.

ill be looking into those bel for sure! they sound great. we got caught on teh I5 coming back to bc from cali by those air things. thats what they do, theres markers and they calucalte your pseed by them. then they send their highway doods out to get ya. i swear those crazy fuckers are going way over 200 (kms). maybe theres a possibly job opportunity here.

shit you got marked by a copter, that suks.

i was actually referring to a system in the cops car that is oldschool from the seventies i think,, and its basically stop watches that the cop uses as you go past him on the interstate, and as he would be going the opposite direction as you, he would pull a u-turn, then drive by the same marks on the road, whatever they may be( a tree, a sign post, a light post, whatever.) seeing how fast it takes them to drive the same stretch, the difference in time will tell them how fast you were going, then the drive like a hundred miles an hour to catch you. currently states that are real fee -grabbers are using the system, there is nothing you can do to protect yourself.

When I lived in Missouri, one of my co-workers brothers was with the highway state patrol. We three went to lunch one day and he was talkign about how they (the police) used to fly in planes above the interstates and time people driving between two marks painted on the road. He said they had an entire board of stop watches in the plane and that he could time around six cars at once. When they found someone that was speeding, they would radio to a car on the ground to deliver the actual speeding ticket. I started to pay attention, and noticed a lot of white airplane shapes painted on the interstate facing the direction of travel, followed by a solid white bar a few thousand yards later. I assume these are the marks they use to time with. The same guy told me that the state patrol wouldn't pull anybody over for speeding until they broke 84 MPH (in a 70MPH zone); pulling over slower speeders wasn't worth the hassle. This was back in the late 80's/early 90's.

ya that sounds kinda like what they got us with in washington. there were signs saying "speed monitored by air" or somthing similar. being young canadians completely ignorant to this we ignored it.

here though its jsut plain ol radar or you are dumb enough to pass a copper thats already speeding (they ALWAYS go 10-20 over).

once i manage to pay off my ticket and my insurance im going ot be hopefully getting one. see how debts go, it will be top of my list for my spending money savings.

we are saying the same thing, except they are now putting VASCAR, back into cruisers in some states, and there is no warning signs or marks on the roads, they use two highway markers, signs, whatever. planes are becoming cost prohibitive.

a radar detector won't help you if the cops are using lasers, are pacing you, or use the two-lines-on-the-road technique. the only thing it will do is warn you about radar. in some places, they are illegal, and in others, the cops put out so many false radar emitters to make you think there's a cop over the next hill when there's not, it's hardly worth it IMO.

ya, but police dont use any other methods here really. jsut not big enough population for them to spend that much money on it.

i'd get bd's if i had the money. but im pretty sure you still need a ticket to have one in your car, right? i remember looking into it about 5 years ago and it was gonna cost a fair bit.
