A freind of mine told me once that the cops have some kinda radar that can pick up traces of a gas that marijuana plants emit, anybody else ever heard that? The way i heard is that they would equip it on a plane and the plane would fly over a large amount of ground and could detect the plants growing below. Sounds kinda hard to believe they would have that kinda technology but i wouldnt put it past them.

Although, in recent news, it looks like using any kind of IR devices are infringing upon our constitiutional rights so...the supreme court has ruled against them. Read up on it here - http://www.worldnetdaily.com/frame/direct.asp?SITE=dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/20010611/ts/court_search_dc_2.html

They fly over suspected growing areas and us I.R. (infra red) to pick up possible heat signiture of grow rooms. with all the light thay use they generate a lot of heat that has to be expelled somhow. they use this in humbolt county a lot but now everyone grows outside under the cover of private forest
check this link out though

So its just the heat emitted from the equipment used to grow the plants that they detect? And how risky would it be to grow in a corn feild?

No it isn't illegal to have an indoor garden so I'm pretty sure that there are certain things the pigs look for when using infrared. If the entire basement of a house is emitting alot of heat at 3 in the morning then chances are the person isn't growing tomatoes. I'd really like to know though if heat from a house is the ONLY thing the pigs need to get a search warrant. If it is then that's fuckin' bullshit. You'd think they would atleast need something else like a prior drug conviction.

You friend is a moron attic. Yes cops use infared detection and they also fly nap of the earth (tree top level) outdoors and use a scanner of some sort that actually detects the color and shape of growing marijuana plants.

holo.. I heard something about that too. They fly low to the ground, making the plant's leaves blow. The underside of the MJ leaves supposedly look silvery from the air. When I heard it, I thought it was just BS to get people to not even attempt growing outdoors.
It's so stupid. For every method of getting fucked up that they outlaw, 5 more are invented. Where's it gonna end?

look u all pose a good point but i have researched this quite a bit... coca plants, and mj plants and all other plants emit differnt kind of rays sorta like finger prints... they fly over with special radars and it looks for these its not the heat from the grow room they are looking for... its the wav's on the radar screen...

The I.R. cameras they are using now are so advanced they can look inside your house and tell whether or not you are wearing any clothes. No joke, it was in one of the more recent Popular Science magazines. So they can easily tell what kind of plants you are growing.

The thermal sights on the old M60-A3 tanks did a hell of a job. We'd sit in the tanks at night watch the deer & bunnies, etc. playing in the fields. I can hardly imagine how much the technology has advanced over the years. Too bad that research money didn't go into improving light sources for indoor gardens. :(
