Newbie fuckup

ok peeps - this one takes the cake.

just thought I would share with you all my stupidity so that other newbies don't made the same mistake.

I received my prints - 5 from Ralphster (thanks man!) - and I've got all my goodies to make my syringes. (Extra syringes compliments of Ryche Hawke - thanks man!) I've got my isopropyl alcohol, shotglass, print, 3 sterile syringes full of distilled sterilized water, and lighter. The area has been wiped down thouroughly with diluted bleach and the entire kitchen cleaned with disinfecting agents. My ingredients are carefully placed on the open door of the oven, which has been preheated to 300 degrees. I cover my mouth with my little white mask and put on my latex glove. I sterilize my gloves with the alcohol over the sink and I squat down in my indian squat to begin the syringe making process.

The needle needs sterilization. I light it with the lighter, and wipe it off with the towel that has been dampened with the alcohol. I wait a moment then scrap some of the print into the shot glass. I eject the syring into the shotglass and suck up all the water/spores. No problem.

Syringe #2: I rinse my hands /latex gloves in alcohol. The second needle needs sterilization. I light the needle with the lighter "WHAT?! WHAT THE FUCK?! MY FUCKING HAND IS ON FIRE?!!!!! HOLY SHIT! GET THE SALT! OHMIGODNOWAY!!! THE TOWEL THAT WAS DAMPENED WITH ALCOHOL IS ON FIRE TOO!!! SHIT!!! GET THE SALT!!!"

my boyfriend dumped salt on everything. ON EVERYTHING!!! the print, towel, floor, oven door, shotglass, all the syringes.

my hand went out in about 4 seconds. Latex is a protective layer- the alcohol burned off and it went out. my hand wasn't even warm.

"hhahahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahaha"

we died laughing but my poor experiment!!!

Please laugh at me... please learn from this. don't be a stupid newbie LIKE ME!!!

i think the print will be ok. I went ahead and made 2 more prints from it. I guess we will see in a few weeks if they are ok or not. I will let you know!

That is pretty bad...but don't feel bad. Here's one that doesn't quite top yours, but it's in the same league.

This is a story told to me by one of my good friends. I might not have the story completely 100% accurate, but this is what he said:

He was trying to grow P. Cubensis. He had colonized once before, but hadn't fruited yet. He printed out the ole' Magic Mushroom Grower's Guide, and brought it into the kitchen with all of his supplies (BRF, Verm, Syringe, jars, etc.) He got his substrate and everything all mixed up, and ready for sterilization. I'm not sure exactly how he had his pressure cooker setup, but apperantly, he turned the cooker on, and went to take a piss. He, being the burnt out stoner that he is, decided to go for a ride down to his friend's house, completely forgetting about the shroom cultivation. He got back, and his entire kitchen was filled with smoke. Apperantly, a rag/towell (or something) had caught on fire in the pressure cooker, and the firedestroyed a cabinet, and smoke tinted the walls. His parents made him clean it all up, inspected his room, threw out the colonizing jars that were almost ready to be birthed, some beer, a bong, etc. The usual stoner stuff. They were more upset with the fact that he ruined an expensive pressure cooker, than that he was growing 'shrooms. All they did was take his car away for a month...no big deal.

P.S., maybe a mod should move this to another topic?

Lol. Well just because you catch your hand and a rag on fire doesnt make you a newbie. You still are one though, as with most of the people at this site (including myself). Anyway, everyone should learn from this that rubbing alchohol is quite flammable. I thankfully already knew this and am careful to not get it on anything, myself especially. So, keep in mind not to get that ALCHOHOL on yourself when doing this people. And give the alchohol on the needle time to dry if you light it with a lighter after whiping it with alchohol, or else you might end up wit a plasticy mess.
