The Movie "Pi"
    #3514239 - 12/17/04 03:21 PM (19 years, 3 months ago)

Does anyone else find the movie "Pi" (not pi but the symbol for pi) a really interesting view on life and god? And does anyone know if it's true about what they say about the Hebrews believing in that one number?

Sounds to me like it would make sense... like God is that one number.. and that one number is integrated into every living thing and every rule and system that governs us.

I think that the value of the "number" is metaphorical, and that it wouldn't actually be expressed numerically.

The golden measure is prevalent everywhere in nature, and not only the Jews believe in it. I think it is a less-talked about but still commonly accepted truth within the scientific and religious communities.

The religious communities utilize it as a chance to show how "God" or some higher power makes his/her/their appearance known in all things, while I do believe there is a scientific school of thought which uses the Golden Ratio as a justification for a survival of the most natural and competitive system of living.

Organisms which utilize the ratio seem to thrive because it is the most efficient way to get tasks and fulfill whatever it is that needs to be done. I realize this last point is somewhat unclear and I am having trouble explaining it, maybe later when I am not as messed up.

AND - yes, I enjoyed Pi very much but I found some of Aronofsky's trait shots (fast cut action scenes, repetitive sequences) to be irritating at times. Good movie overall though.

Some discover with math, and the use of math, things can be calculated. Like traveling to different stars on a ship. Without accuracy of math one may fail their mission. Crash landings are due to numbers not being accurate.

As for numbers and god. If one had a computer system that could calculate all fractal existances into one, one would see the galaxy for what it is. There are people that can calculate numbers as well as see the galaxy without computers.
