The Futility of the Egoless Fa?ade
    #3499623 -

Really... you're not fooling anybody. Post all the "spiritual" messages you want. I can feel you through the mortar. Man behind the curtain? Puh-leeze! You're just a selfish little brat tweaking your nipples as you peek through the peephole.
Fuck you.
You think I'm bluffing. You're right... I AM bluffing. I'm bluffing that I'm NOT going to beat your weak barrier into submission. It's coming down. It's all coming down. Maybe not now... maybe not tomorrow... but it IS coming down.
So, why the warning?
Because you don't stand a chance. And the pain... the pain from the weight of all those sun-dried bricks of bullshit crushing your pathetic nut of self-importance. And if you think you're going to save yourself some pain by giving up... you're wrong again. You'll work yourself raw pulling that wall down... the sledgehammer will dish out blisters with every pummeling blow... and the light will sear your naked flesh.
You'll heal.
You'll no longer need the fa?ade. You'll look at the pain in a new light... and you'll fall in love with it.

I'm not referring to physical pain.

i know.
i was talking about all pain.

I love pain, though I fear it. Some people think it's strange that people fear pain and yet fear death much more. I have to agree, but I personally do not fear death. Lots of pain is a sign of a lively and strong anything. I know some of this doesn't appear to be true beyond the physical, but it is.

Who are you addressing?

I don't know of anyone here that preaches of an egoless existance. To exist without ego is nearly impossible.

No, the most common "spiritual message" from those who are anti-ego is not to eliminate the ego, but to learn to control the ego so that it does not dictate one's emotional state and actions.

To gain a viewpoint higher than the ego, so that one can "keep an eye on it".

Perhaps I do not know who you're addressing... perhaps there are those who suggest complete ego elimination... but I suspect these individuals (if they exist) will learn one day the necessity of ego.

I hope that, after they learn this necessity, they will then learn the necessity of balance.

Not to eliminate the ego, but to transcend the ego.

Without ego there wouldn't be no permitting for knowledge either. Without knowledge there would be no permitting for anti-ego to permit control over ones self from the emotional state, well, as JacquesCousteau said.

The belief that we can abolish the ego by will of the ego is the biggest ego trip of all. - who said that again?

I get it - but I don't admire the roughness of the trip.

overly sexual in a way, enmeshed in difficult instinctual defense clouds. Kinda like operating in a skunk cloud.

the trouble with it is you can be too attached to the form which made you have this epiphany, it is just one door that can be opened among many

I would certainly hope no one thought they were egoless.. what a mindfuck that would be! As stated previously in this thread, the goal is to transcend the ego, not eliminate it. It's there for a reason.

I'm beginning to worry about semantic confusions, now.

The word ego has quite a few used meanings... If we are talking about the ego as in the conceptual filters that we percieve reality through, which serves many practical functions and purposes in day to day living then I completely agree that the ego is not something that needs to be abused, eliminated, or looked down upon, but also not something to entirely devote one's energy into; but to be transcended and only used when pragmatically needed.

However, if we are discussing the ego as in the false sense of self, that merely serves identities for us to feed, protect, uphold and such.. then I disagree that we absolutely need such an ego.

The key is differentiating between functions, and identities.
For example: If I teach schoolchildren, that is a function, not an identity. When the classes are over, and children leave, the function ceases.

I rejoice back to nothingness, and hence am one with all that is.
Very peaceful state of Being.

The ego arises out of social interactions, although it's downfall is that it acts as a clever mask, tricking even the face that wears it.

It is not bad, blah blah blah

It is just a label, blah blah blah

Without social interaction, there is no ego, besides the core sense of self one experiences in isolation. The downfall is only that the ego is metaphorically greedy, carrying itself over into the Self's own sense of self, blinding it from many aspects of existence.

It is installed, or rather conditioned into existence, slowly through observing social interactions of others. Because of this, it is built entirely around the consensual reality that people pretend to be a part of, the whole wife-car-dog-house-sneaker reality.

We are infinite liquid and the ego is a small cup. To realize this, and drop it's association to the TRUE self, one can still manifest 'egos' for communication purposes, as it is almost a necessity for communicating with other ego-driven humans. However, the freedom that this affords is beyond amazing.

There is no preaching here though, that I've seen anyways

as a quick aside, where you on drugs when you wrote that?

its impossible to be wtihout ego while alive, the ego is like the boat on which we explore an ocean. The only way to abandon it entirely is to surrender yourself to the sea, sink into it, die and disapear.

As long as we cling to the life experience, some ego is needed. Spiritually, the task is to observe, control and understand the ego.

Ego is only necessary to give self identification in a social group. The concept of Ego can be trancended via meditation or drugs to give moments of connectedness but only moments as a lack of self indentification completly is antithetical to our species survival. While rampant Egoism may be it's demise also. Thus "keys" are available to view the trancendent to guide our path. It is not our lot to "live" trancedentaly lest we forget our material needs. A breif time w/o ego for the right mind is quite instructive.
