I want to try using MycoBags and I was wondering which one would have better yeilds for cubies, the straw based or the Corn-E-Morph. And what kind of weight could I expect that to produce? Thank you

i have never fruited mycobags in the bags. however i have heard that about a half oz total dry weight is average for the small bags.

So since the large bags have 4.5x the substrait of the small ones, they should produce somewhere in the ball park of 2.5oz dry? And I still don't know what's better, corn or straw. Isn't it something like the corn will colonise faster but the grain will yeild more total?

yes it is but when refering to a gran based bag, we like to overllook the facts
and refer to corn as corn and wild bird seed as grain and as crazy as it sounds,
we call Rye by the name of Rye

Pris#1, now your confuzin me. Corn is grain unless it comes before rye and rye is rye unless your talkin about wild bird seed. Is that about right?

the bags based on WBS are a mixture of grains as opposed to a single grain
like corn, rye or millet... my experience has shown that it takes little
extra time to colonize a 'multi-grain' bag than a single grain bag but
the fruits tend to be larger and more prolific....

look at them from the stand point of kernel size, rye and corn are large kernel
grains where as the mix in WBS is smaller kernels... all of them are grains
but because one is a mixture its often refered to as grain where the other two
are refered to by their proper names

In my experiences I'm not a dumb ass and I've never payed a vendors rent, to buy something i can get at Wall mart for .1 the cost of teh vendor.

unfortunately many people dont have most of the supplies or equipment to handle
grains in general, spawn bags arent a local item, sealers, pressure cookers and
the rest is a bit more expensive than a $10 dollar bag of pre-sterilized
substrate. that makes it very appealing to someone that is just getting intp
the hobby.

I suppose one could purchase a single mycobag, and spore syringe.
And build themselves up from there, keeping in mind he wants to try and get on his feet in this hobby without spending any more money.

lol AHHH! I want to use the large bags and there is no large grain bag. Is straw based good or not? And now a few more questions. Do cyanscenes grow the same way as cubes except I'd need the wood based bag? And for both of them, basically all I have to do is knock up the bags (with how much solution?) and throw em in my closet, shake em up every week until they start pinning then cut holes around the middle of the substrate and wait for the yummies?

Get your OWN empty fiter patch bags, then you can put anything in them - YOU WANT. Combo of WBS, rye, cracked corn, fine chopped straw works great.

That would destroy my whole purpose for getting the presterilized substrate bags... I don't want to sterilize the substrate myself(that and I'm lazy)...and if i get contams I want to be able to blame someone else. :grin:

I like straw, grain, and corn.

i dont know much about cyans.

I think that around 4 ccs is the norm for bags.

Massaging your sack after inoculation, and one more time after you see some white stuff, but never again should work good.  :shocked:

use the corn based bags and the cyans grow similarly, but start with cubensis.

I agree with that. I started out with a mycobag and a syringe. For someone that doesn't know much or anything about mycology it makes more sense to them to spend $30-40 and try it out rather than to spend $100-200 on supplies/eqipment. Whatever it takes to get people into this great hobby.
