Taoism just feels like the most natural philosophy, and doesn't disagree with my natural skepticism. It confirmed my suspicions of the interdependence of opposites.

Pantheism is that god is everything belief. I just replace god with tao. Same thing really.

I see the two as the same, and neither disagrees that much with atheism (which is more an anti-christian term). If I don't feel like talking about my beliefs I say I'm a taoist. If I feel like arguing I say I'm an atheist or pantheist. Or I could just be trying to get on someones good side by agreeing with them.

I'd highly recommend reading the Tao te Ching by Lao Tzu, Ellemyshade. It is some of the most beautiful (and deep) poetry I've ever read...

I bought a book half a year or so ago, of the combined Tao Te Ching and the Chuang Tzu

It is one of the only things I have ever read that has resonated with my beliefs so deeply, I've read it numerous times and new wisdom shows with each reading

The first time I read it, I considered the Tao Te Ching nicely-written but rather useless and apocryphal, while the Chuang Tzu seemed a more practical teacher, but now when I read it again the Tao Te Ching seems the greater teacher, and the Chuang Tzu the more apocryphal and distant...

It's rather odd, like the yin yang almost. Both are incredible sources of knowledge from far past though :thumbup: You don't see many thinkers like those who wrote the original texts nowadays

Alan Watts wrote a very nice book on Taoism called The Watercourse Way. I highly recommend reading it, it is incredibly readable and understandable without effort. It might be more beneficial for some rather than jumping straight into reading the Tao Te Ching, as sometimes the meanings aren't so apparent....

I'd also suggest looking into some Zen. :wink: I think they tend to go hand-in-hand in a lot of different aspects...

Also, anyone else notice how Buddhism and Tao are sort of at odds with each other? Could anyone tell me why? It lies in the main principles and practices of each...  :smirk:
