Yin and Yang
    #3445116 -

It's all so amazing.  I always saw the yin and yang symbol around, but I never really looked into it too much.  Well, I've just spent the past two hours researching this and it is so interesting.  Taoism makes quite a lot of sense to me.

just wanted to share!  :stoned:

Indeed, Taoism was my key to understanding how spirituality can coexist with logical thought.

The next step, for me, after realizing the relevance of yin and yang was to see that--once I'd come to understand how they balance each other out--my goal was to be in the middle at all times. Essentially, the dividing line between yin and yang is where true balance lies.

It's so fascinating how a persons belief system can evolve. Seriously, I've been thinking about the important of "balance" for weeks now, and then just randomly saw a yin yang symbol today and researched it. Now I am so entranced by these new thoughts reading about it gave me.

I think of it as more like.. between negative and positive lies inifinity. Between something and something else, lies nothing.

But this stuff is damn hard to verbalize, so I'm sure that doesn't mean the same thing to anyone else that it does to me.

I had this exact same thought consistantly on my last trip. I kept thinking in terms of polarities, the positive and negative, angelic and demonic, and I thought that in the middle, in perfect balance, was where "God" was.

It's really weird to discuss, but so cool at the same time!

Taoism and Buddhism are the two religions that I've enjoyed studying the most of all other religions and spiritual schools of thought.
The pragmatic spirituality found within the two are beautifully applicable in day to day living, which is what I look for the most.
I had no idea Taoism was actually pronounced "Dowism" until recently.. And that fits quite well, considering that Dowism can be rearranged into "Wisdom".

or it is the same thing for everyone, but meaning and more importantly - expression - is subjective and so it appears skewed

The changing of the hexagrams changes greater yin, greater yang, lesser yin and lesser yang. 64, 144.

Taoism rules.

Depending on who asks what I believe in, I normally say taoism. When they ask what it is I say 'the tao that can be spoken is not the eternal tao,' to save myself explaining. I'll also call myself a pantheist or atheist depending on the situation. I don't see a difference between them so I'm not totally lying.

Ninjapixie I'm wondering, what groups of body politics cause you to gravitate towards professing beliefs of Taoism, and of panthiesm [or panENtheism], and why?

it does make a lot of sense, and it goes to show how practical the ideas are. thye apply to our second by second existence on this planet. A lot of it is not only bettering yourself, but the world around you. it isn't a bunch of rules or regulations on what you should and shouldn't do, but merelly suggestions on living peacefully.

what more could you want?

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.
