I just saw a modest mouse show in Birmingham about a week ago. It was one of the better concerts Ive been too. Beer goes really good with this group.

yeah hopefully i'm gonna see them next month. i think they're playing like four shows in portland.

i hope the small amount of attention they've gotten lately hasn't gotten to them. it'd suck if they were rockstars now.

I don't think Isaac Brock really lets the attention get to him. He's just another acid tripping musician that writes incredible music. :P

My life changed after 5hits+2rolls+The Lonesome Crowded West+The Moon and Antarctica. It was truely mind-blowing. THIS BOAT IS OBVIOUSLY SINKING! 0_o

Modest Mouse is a very cool band. However, I've talked with a few people that have met them (lived in the Northwest) and most say that Isaac is a dick. He write cool lyrics though.

--------------------
1. "After an hour I wasn't feeling anything so I decided to take another..."
2. "We were feeling pretty good so we decided to smoke a few bowls..."
3. "I had to be real quiet because my parents were asleep upstairs..."

who cares if they're on mtv ect. you should be happy a band you like is making some skrilla and more people get to listen to good music. everyone complains about selling out and whines when a band gets on the radio and tv, most of the time it seems they're some eliteist prick. when they're on stage doing choreographed dancing then you can scream "Sell out!." You know one of their songs is the music for some major corporate evil horrible automobile manafacture commercial don't you? and it was before they were ever on mtv. I guess well see what happens but i really doubt they change that much after the popularity of float on.

I got one two three four
Five, six, six, six

I used to get up on early on Sundays and continue the previous night's drunk and skunk. My roomate was fond of sleeping in, so I would BLAST "Breakthrough" and just wait until he came stumbling through the door yelling at me. Then I would say 'Hey, since you're awake, let's have a beer'. Never got a "NO". GOOD TIMES.

this is very true. i was suprised to hear (about a year ago) Gravity Rides Everything on some car commercial. i think it might have been for Volksvagon. but there's a difference between letting someone use their song in an advertisement, and signing to Sony's record label, which pretty much implies that you're sacrificing a degree of artistic control over the music.

im glad they are makin some money. also, dabrye had one of his songs on a motorola commercial, and i still listen to him. hell, i still listen to modest mouse, but im sick of their new cd cause its all over the radio and mtv. there is just somethin special with knowing about an artist before the masses get to it.

yeah i don't really care for the new cd either. it's just not as good as the other ones, whether or not people like it. their older stuff was more experimental, and the lyrics were more ambiguous too.

Their last CD is alright, but not my favorite. A few songs really hit the mark and remind me of their old "angry" stuff. #7, dance hall, reminds me of ugly casanova, and is by far my favorite track.
