Injecting tryptamines into substrate

Hi, I read something somewhere about "injecting tryptamines into substrate" to make increase psylocibin/psylocin levels in the mushrooms. What is that all
about? What "tryptamines" are they talking about?
thanks!

Im no Mycologist by far yet.. buy what you are suggesting would have no effect.. the only way to combine chemicals is through chemistry.. not injecting into substrate and thinking things are gonna happen on their own

The tryptamines are supposed to go into the substrate before innoculation so that the mycelium grows off of it, absorbing the chemical. The thread I read was discussing the use of ground Mimosa root bark.. It makes sence too that the mycelial body--->mushrooms would absorb the chemicals available in its substrate.

Actually it is possible to boost psilocin/psilocybin percentages through addition of certain types of tryptamines. The reason for this is that there is a specific enzyme (sorry forgot the designation) that selectively adds a hydroxy group to the 5 position on the ring system. Gartz did a study on this and (if memory serves me well) reported elevated levels up to 3.3%! Which is a considerable jump from even species with high levels. so please keep your conjecture to those areas that you have more background in. thank you
