This is a good setup for casings. Are you certain of your hygrometers accuracy?

86% seems alittle low. i have a Kaz cool mist hooked to 3 chambers with 2 holes for co2 exit on all 4 sides. humidity levels are 96%(usually have to wait an hour from initial start-up.) What size is your hose coming from the cool mist?

5/8 is the right size. I havent heard much about exit holes, i just drilled mine right at the level where my casing trays are.My RH meters are also digital.(all three give the same exact reading) Yes the RH will go some when you put the casings in.One thing i should add is i have a large humidifier in the 10X10 room i keep my chambers in. The RH of the room is always between 55-60%(keeps my iquana happy)85-95% is generally good for casings. I think i can get away with 98% because there is absolutely no condensation in the chaber anywhere.

You can calibrate that by wrapping it in wet paper towels and putting it all in a Ziplock. Within one half hour, it should read 98%. You ought to have drain holes for the CO2. A few 1/4 inch holes near the bottom.

Do any of you think that the RH also depends upon where the person lives. Here, in the south I can cut the air w/ a knife. I usually keep mine around 80-90%. Sometimes it starts to bead up alot and swelter....Also where should the Co2 holes be placed??? thnkx

Air temps, and rh outside the tank can affect the air in the tanks ability to hold water.

Once you got casing in it, the humidity will rise by itself. I don?t use any additional humidification with my casings.
