is calcium carbonate chalk? cuz i dont know where i can get oyster shells. and i wanna know if chalk is a substitute.

Yes calcium carbonate is chalk or gypsom. If you need oyster shell I can get them for you for 2.00 and the price of shipping

gypsum is NOT chalk!
gypsum is calcium sulfate Ca SO4
chalk is calcium carbonate Ca CO3

You mean the chalk that you write with on the blackboard?
Unfortunately this is often not made out of chalk today. It?s a mix of different other substances, including chalk, gypsum,magnesium carbonate.

Maybe you could go to the fish market and get some shellfish, have a nice dinner and BOOM oyster shells! You probably have to crush em a little. Maybe they even have shells without the meat inside and you can get em for free if you ask nice.
