All of the mushroom fairs I've been to you can bring in mushrooms you've found and the official identifier (generally a professional mycologist) will identify them (unless they're so easy that the club members can).

Fairs like this are one of the very best ways to learn what species are in the area and how to tell them apart.

Who is the identifier for this fair?

Happy mushrooming!

usally a guy from ucsf, or sf state id's. I brought an azurescens in a few years back that i grew and the guy id it as a "you know what this is". I laughed, it was inmature, i asked well what is it and he said baby cyan. I told him it was an azure and he was all stoked.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

Hi. I haven't missed one of these myco fairs in the last 5 years. It is a great way to see what might be available if I have the eyes to see it. Nice place to say "hello". I usually pick up plugs for logs and get to taste something new.
