Hey Quota man,
Fake LSD mixed with PCP mushrooms have been available in both the USA and in Europe for many years dating back to the early 1970s, before very few people even ever knew what real magic mushroom's looked like.
In the USA, the mushrooms come prepared in a sealed grocery store tin which looks the same color as a GI can of K or C rations A tin the size of a can of peaches or chili. It is hermatically sealed to ward off bacteria and spoiling. They are generally kept refrigerated in a freezer until used.
In the Early 1970, these phony mushrooms were what led me to find the real thing.
Back in the middle 1960s I was given a half gram of Psilocybe cubensis. OF course I barely felt anything. And becasue of that I really was interested in trying them out.
Then in 1971 in Chicago, another person gave me two capsules of what he said were pharmaceutical psilocybine. ANd he told me I could smoke the chemical. WEll I did and nothing happened. Most likely they were LSD or even STP{. IT was a small single ought capsule of brown powder. But since then I learned that the Chemicals legally manufactured by Sandoz and one other company were actually 2 and 5 milligram tablets and that no powdered mushrooms in a capsule that small were ever available to anyone.
Then in 1973, a friend of a friend in Portland, Oregon sold me a can of what he called Frozen Mexican Magic Mushrooms, allegedly from Oaxaca, Mexico (HAHAHA on ME). After opening the can I noticed that they were watery wine red and sliced and diced.
My wife and I ate some and had a hell of a trip. Nothing bad but it lasted for about 12 hours. Not the lenght of time for a four to six hour psilocybian experience. Well we let the can sit out of the freezer for a few days in the icebox and then made a bunch of drinks to days later for some friends.
Apparently when the frozen shrooms melted in the can, all of the chemicals in the can settled at the bottom of the can, causing a few people to get extremely high, much more than they needed to be and we had to baby sit several people thorugh a bad trip.
So, I took the remainder down to a friend in Eugene, Oregon who sent them to Pharm Chem Labs in Palo Alto, California. See if you lived in Lane County, Oregon or in Humbolt County, California, then The University of Oregon would pay for free any drug analyzation which one miight need in order to verify that what they have is really what they bought or purchased.
SDo what you do is call up the U of O and get a number from them. Then you mail your sample to Pharm Chem Labs and a week to ten days later you can call the U of O in Eugene and give them your number and they will tell you what the substance was which you sent into them for anaylization.
I will post below here a page of one of their monthly drug sheet analysis for all to see and please notice that the majority of shrooms sent into them had no psilocybine/psilocine at all but were other drugs or no drugs at all.
Now I was also offered some of these phony mushrooms in 1992 in Hawaii and in Europe the canned shrooms are often Shitake mushrooms, sealed the same as the Agaicus campetris shrooms sealed in tins here in America.
According to German authorities, their canned shrooms are imported from Asia (Japan or the Philippines).
See page below after I post it at spiritplants.
I will probably only post the portion related to shroom analysis since the pages are two buig to get a whole page psoted.
Mj.
Be patient while I scann and send a page.

Oops, I'll be Bach!

Well going to scan and post bnow and remember.
"I'll be Bach."
Well here are three images of one page fromthe monthly drug analysis sheet from Phar Chem Labs.
By the way a true and interesting story. YEars ago in the late 1970s or was it the early 1980s, Pharm chem labs moved and High TImes Magazine published there new address in one of their issues of their mag. Well it so happens that they accidently posted the wrong street number and this poor dental clinical in Palo Alto or maybe it was San Jose started to get grams of coke and other drugs in their mail
I remember reading about this in a nespaper but cannot recall the year or time of the notice. THe dental Aassistant was all freaked out when she started to open the mail every day becasure they were getting approz. twenty letters or more a day with drugs in them.
ALso if you notice the pound price for some of these mushrooms from $150.00 a pound to as much as $400.00 per pound and all they were were LSD, thus making the LSD Laced mushrooms the most expensive LSD ever sold.
What a rip-off.
So there you have a single month from the Pharm Chem Newsletter vol. 1(7). 1972 page 2.
