Wild shrooms in So Cal?
    #3356409 - 11/13/04 05:53 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

Hi, I recently moved to a horse ranch in the Sylmar foothills, and have noticed small mushrooms that look quite like some cylacibes I've taken before.... However I can only find info on mushrooms north of frisco... Is it possible that they grow in so cal? If so what species should I be looking for?

Cool! I live by Glendale, or Pasedena and I havent been hunting yet but you should be looking for psilocybe cubensis.

UH, you are dead wrong. P. CUbensis doesn't grow naturally in California. you need to do research before you send a nooby or yourself on a wild goose chase. i'm also pretty sure no actives grow in SoCal at all. i've seen a few mushrooms pop up after rains a month or so ago in SoCal but they aren't active and i don't even think they are edibles.

I strongly doubt that any type of active mushroom grows in souther california, its hard enough for us northern californians to find mushrooms, and we have a dense natural enviroment... And yes cubensis do not grow in california, for some reason everyone thinks that they can find active mushrooms growing in cow shit in california, but that is far from the truth, that is only in midwestern to eastern states.
