how will taping jars/holes before pressure cooking affect the jars?

Before you PC the jars,you wont have the lids tight on so,
taping jars/holes doesnt really make a difference since steam, will penetrate the jars anyway which is what we want. The only reason you would want to do it, would be to avoid water to enter your jars and change the water ratio.(=bad). After sterilization-inoculation-and some colonization, you can take the tape off, to speed things up.

For me, it has always depended on the substrate I was using. BRF and verm, I cover the holes with tape before cooking, same with Finch seed. If I use Wheat Berries or Rye Berries, I loosen the lids and never tape the holes. Always works fine for me.
