Immediately after 9/11 Bush promised the American people that the terrorists would not affect America.

Like most all the words that dribble from his mouth, this statement rang hollow and false.

Take umbrage if you like, but no airline passenger can deny the effects.

Take umbrage if you like, but no one filling up at the pump can deny the effects.

Take umbrage if you like, but no one can deny our record-breaking deficit.

Nor the far-reaching repercussions of the Patriot Act, nor the alienation of our allies, nor a divided nation, nor the... (you fill in the blanks).

What more could our enemies have hoped for that they didn't get handed to them?

The terrorists look at how nearly EVERYTHING has changed, smile and say: "Thanks GWB. Mission Accomplished!"

if the purpose of terrorism is to terrorize..then bush seems more than happy to do their dirty work for them..and the voters were more than happy to let him do it...
