4 Hole innoculation, 1 Hole success

Well it's now week 3 of my first mushroom growin attempt.
Only 3 / 7 jars are colonized.. so im guessin it's pretty pointless keepin the other 4 in the box with the colonized ones? Anyways.. I did the standard 4 hole innoculation tek;
however, on all 3 jars the growth just started from 1 side and worked its way around. Any reasons you can think of? I easily put about 1cc into each hole yet only 3 out out 12 holes picked up growth.

did you shake the syringe for a minute before you started?

Yes I did... However I did not shake it after i did each jar.. maybe that is the prob. Nevertheless the growth on the 3 jars has tripled in the last 3 days.. so time to case soon

Hey, Plow King,

I too had this experience. I forgot to shake the syringe between holes and between jars. Out of 12 jars only 5 ever colonized at all, and those were all in one hole, like you said.

The lesson I learned is: Shake Shake Shake! Start over and next time you will do much better!
