is lynol the same as lysol?
    #3318733 -

I was looking for Lysol today without succsess. However under paint cleaning products I found something called Lynol instead. It contained ethanol, toluene and n-butyl acetate. Is this the same thing? Is there any spesific reason why Lysol is always recommendet?

oh no. Go check for lysol at a supermarket(usually next to TP). They would have it.

the reason I asked was because I live in norway and i was wondering if lynol was an norwegian version of lysol. Because noone seems to have heard of lysol before around here.

Okay... look something in the air freshner section. If it has anti-bacterial effects(germs and molds might also be stated), that's the one you are looking for.

i wasn't flaming you. just using your example for an analogy. Anyways, just look for some type of spray disinfectant. That's all lysol is. It's like one of those air freshener type sprays only it disinfects also.

actually, lysol isn't an air disinfectant or air freshener... it's a surface antibacterial/antiviral. this is after reading the label...

ingredients listed as follows:
Alkyl(50% C14, 40% C12, 10% C16)
Dimethyl Benzyl Ammonium Saccharinate... 0.1%
Ethanol ........ 79.0%
Inert Ingredients...... 20.9%

under eliminates odors, it only says that it kills odors by killing odor-causing bacteria. it says it helps control mold/mildew... but it's never been that effective for me... plus breathing the stuff just makes me feel like i smoked a pack of cigarettes in 10 seconds and i can't breathe well anyways.

i prefer to use OUST! brand air sanitizer for an air sanitizer... but i bought myself a HEPA at wal*fart a few weeks ago and i don't really use the oust that much anymore. if i'm going to clean a surface, i use scrubbing bubbles because it kills mold and mildew better than lysol, on top of killing bacteria.

if you can't find scrubbing bubbles, a diluted bleach solution should work really well. bleach for surfaces, alcohol for instruments.

just thought i'd throw in my $.02

Nobody said it was an air disinfectant or air freshener. It was said it would be found near the air freshener section. It was said it is a spray disinfectant. All of this is true you just assumed a few things. The guy was asking on help where to find this product, not which is better. I too use a hepa because breathing this shit even under a mask feels toxic.

Holy shit, who cares, it kills contams that's all that really matters.  I use it to kill bacteria in the air and on surfaces, so in my case it's both.

If you can't find any anti-bacterial aerosol just mix up some (I believe) 1:10 Bleach/water mix and put it in a fine misting spray bottle.

Don't breath in the bleach fumes, they are horrific and gave me very bad breathing problems for two days when I was helping a friend clean down a new home he bought.  (We were using more like 1:3 bleach/water though)

I think that earlier paranoia is getting to everyone's nerves. Time for ego-check(ego-loss will work, too)!

nah guy you're fine. It just doesn't matter about all the details on its molecular structure. I was describing what it would look like. We're all just trying to help. I've got to run to my philosophy class. peace
