BRF cakes in lysol baggies
    #4316916 - 06/20/05 02:07 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

Hey guys,

I read somewhere suggestin sprayin some lysol in baggie then puttin the freshly PCd jars into the baggie. Well I did this, then let em cool off for a day with em in the bag (it was lysol disinfect w/ bleach). I just sprayed a little bit, like a quarter pump and then moved it around in the bag by holdin the outside. Well I inoculated em and since I heard someone talkin about keepin their grain jars sealed for the first few days I left em in the bags sealed. Should I leave em in or out of the bags? I just realized maybe the lysol could kill the spores???

Thanks a bunch,
lard nar

edit: you could have killed your spores.. expecially if the lysol was wet when you put the jars in

The lysol shouldnt have come in contact with the spores, but remove them from the baggies and dont do that stuff anymore :frown:

You are talking about right after PC, to put the jars in a bag with lysol?

Non sense, that is over kill.

Your spores should be fine, but in the future. Dont do this =).

Lysol will either kill your spores, or cause mutants.

OK I took em out of the baggies.

The lysol by the time I inoculated was no longer liquid in the bags, not sure what that means.  Either way it was mostly in the bottom of the bags when I bagged em after pressure book.  I sure hope I didn't bugger up my Pink Buffalos! :frown: Good think I have 7 more syringes

OK guys, how soon should I see colonization? It's been 32 hours and I didn't see anything when I checked, including the test jar that wasn't in a bag. BTW these are Pink Buffalos

1-5 days usually, can take a week or two though occassionally. If everything is optimal that is...if temps are low or high or moisture contents off or anything else...its more to the later part..
