COEUR D?ALENE ? A North Idaho College student who went into a coma after an apparent overdose on LSD has died.

Gloria Discerni, 18, of Cottage Grove, Ore., died Friday, police spokeswoman Sgt. Christie Wood said. She had been in a coma since Tuesday night after willingly drinking orange juice spiked with the hallucinogenic drug.

Wood said prosecutors would likely file manslaughter charges Monday against the student who gave Discerni the drug ? 18-year-old Cameron James Jester of Lincoln, Neb.

?It?s up to the prosecutors what level of manslaughter, voluntary or involuntary,? police Lt. Don Jiran said.

Jester, who was arrested Wednesday when he tried to visit Discerni in the hospital, is being held under suicide watch at the Kootenai County jail on $100,000 bail.

He originally was charged with felony distribution of LSD and misdemeanor possession of psilocybin mushrooms.

Records show Jester told investigators he gave the woman a dozen doses of the hallucinogen in a drink and then let her have some of his drink, which also had a dozen doses.

She quickly became ill, and friends took her to the hospital.

Police are awaiting toxicology results to determine if the drug was actually LSD or if Discerni had taken any medications or had any other medical conditions that might have contributed to her death.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho ? Potential manslaughter charges against a former Lincoln teen will not be considered until autopsy results have been studied, Kootenai County Prosecutor Bill Douglas said Monday.

Coeur d'Alene police told the Spokane (Wash.) Spokesman Review that 18-year-old Cameron Jester admitted to supplying nearly a dozen hits of the hallucinogen LSD to Gloria Discerni, 18, of Cottage Grove, Ore., at a party.

She died Friday after an apparent LSD overdose put her in a coma Oct. 12. She had willingly drank a glass of orange juice containing 10 to 12 hits of LSD.



Coeur d'Alene police said on Friday afternoon they had recommended the prosecutor file manslaughter charges against Jester.

But Douglas said such a move could be premature.

"We just can't file involuntary manslaughter charges without the forensic autopsy results," Douglas said. "We don't want any surprises. We need the forensic autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and the degree of toxicity in the victim."

Officials want to determine whether Discerni had taken any medications or had any medical conditions that might have contributed to her death.

The autopsy was performed Monday in Spokane, Douglas said.

Tissue and blood samples to determine the level of drugs in Discerni's body will be sent to the Idaho State Crime lab and the Spokane testing firm Pathology Associates. Results may take two to three weeks, Douglas said.

Jester was arrested Tuesday night after helping friends take Discerni to the hospital. He has been held in the Kootenai County Jail on $100,000 bond on two drug charges: delivery of LSD and possession of hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Discerni and Jester, who are North Idaho College freshmen, were at a small party ? police say only 4 or 5 people attended ? at an apartment building near the campus Oct. 12.

Jester, police say, has said he and Discerni willingly ingested LSD, which was mixed in glasses of orange juice.

Jester attended Lincoln Southeast High School in 2001-02 as a sophomore. His parents live in Lincoln.

It was probably an RC...I use to be friends with her back n the day. What the media didn't let you know is that she was on anti-psycotic meds. She made a very stupid choice, she was depressed and suicidal. Don't mix fucking drugs unless you know what you are doing!!!

I know within the last few years she had a serious meth problem...so I would not doubt that she had tried LSD before. - Though it is very hard to find.

I still very much doubt it was acid, it was most likeloy 5-meo-amt... one of two things will happen here... they will publish it was 5-meo and tyhere will be a drive to make it illegale OR the omre lilkly thing, they won't publish it (or put it in the corner of the last page or something). It was not LSD that killed her.

I agree, I think it was either a different drug, possible a research chemical, or maybe it was a byproduct from dirty clandestine acid production that killed her.

~12 doses of good clean lsd-25 is not anywhere near lethal, unless she had some sort of weird allergic reaction, but I never read about lethal lsd-allergy.
