I am so excited about my first grow to come!

My preparations are now as follows:
- Bought a PC yesterday
- Bought a PMP yesterday (about 32*16*16 inches)
- Ordered airpump and tankheaters today
- Ordered spore syringe GT today
- HAd bought BRF
- Had bought 2 tubs for incubation
- Found a place with geolite (50 liters 8?) and a digital thermohydrometer
- Bought a test jar, just tested it if it could stand the heat in the PC. and it works! They are thee glasses, not ideal but nothing else to find for me... And cheap, one glas is 0,50?.
- Bought 2 bottles of H2O2 3%

I have trouble finding good prized Vermiculite though!! Any Dutch people here with suggestions? Welcome! :laugh:

Some Questions I have:

Question , what is better, a little bigger then half pint or a little smaller? (like 225 ml or 275 ml, or doenst that matter? I think bigger is little bigger yield, then I have half a pint BRF-mix and little layer of verm?

Question , The lid of my PMP is not 100% transparant it is greenish and slightly transparant. I want to cut the biggest part out and cover it with plastic foil? Good idea, cause perspex is expensive now for me.

Anyway I will buy the jars this week. As soon as my heaters arrive im gonna test the tub in tub setup and after that im gonna test the PMP.

I also am gonna read up into the casing stuff, what is better to case from PF cakes or to inoculate other kind of cakes to be cased?

Very nice! sounds like you got it all planned out. The heater and case isn't required in the begining since your jars need to sit alone in the dark for awhile. I wish you th ebest of luck.

Yes sir! But I need the the temp to be well above the 80 F to incubate the jars in the dark!
Ill heat my waterfilled tub with an aquarium heater...... Where the tub with the jars will be placed in! :laugh:

Question1- bigger is better,more substrate.
Question2- light needs to get into pmp,not much but some

You are doing it right by making a game plan and not just jumpping in.

Mainly PF tek, but some modifications since I dont have the "real jars" for exampel.
Incubating in "Tub n Tub"
Fruiting in Magashes "Poor Mans Pod"

Do you have xperience with it?

I want to be well prepared when my precious jars are ready for the tub in tub. Dont want surprises then like whit the temperature is way too high or too low. What am i gonna do??? :?: :?:  Just want to be sure I guess I will have SOME surprises anyway so.... :wink:

Ok bigger is better, but I read that the "half a pint''  volume was ideal, thats why I asked. But with a little bigger the verm layer might can be there and the cakevolume itself can be exact half a pint. :laugh:

THe PMP sides are more transparant then the lid, so I must modify the lid imho. Or tape the sides but its nice to see through so I dont have to open the PMP when I want to check my friends! :wink:
Do you know if I can use transparanr plastic for that?

This is my first grow too. I'm using another method based on PF tek. My friend uses PF tek and uses the poor man's pod. It was really inexpensive for him and works really well.

I was just curious but if I can Pm you once in a while for some questions I have that would be very kind!

In my PC fit about 5/6 half a pint jars. How long can I store PC-ed jar before inoculation? And how do I store it? With least risks of contam pls.. :smile:

Another question, I want to use alufoil as a lid on the jars. Cant i just make holes in it after the PC with the sterilized syringe needle? So I dont have to mess with bandaid etc?

Is it important that steam enters the jar, or is it being heated in the PC enough?

Temperature for tub in tub(20 Gallon) should be around 84F.I have a 50 gallon tub in tub keep the temp at 82F.Got to remember the myc will also generate some heat.Perfect heat being 86F. You do not wamt ANY light in tub in tub.Checking your jars every 2 or 3 days is OK.Light want hurt. A good heater is worth the money.

!/2 pt's colinize fastest. Every noob should start here and then move on.

As for the PMP, let the light in.Do not tape it.If you think its not enouth light,modify the top.I like to watch them grow to.

Use your jars ASAP.Got to remember your fighting time. All we are doing is giving the myc ahead start.The faster it takes over the better chance it has.

The alum foil thing works just fine.Done it a couple of times myself.

Jars are heated thur PC. If steam was to enter the jars water content would be all messed up.

Thanks KK. A (non pf i believe) Tek mentioned that steam should enter the jars!

Why did I ask how long a PC-ed jar can wait is cause I want to inoculate like 10 jars so i wont be able to PC them together but must do it in 2 shifst.

Maybe I can write a date on them so i know which ones are laying ahead if there is much time between the 2 being inocculated.

Instead of storing them and innocculating all at once why don't you inoculate the 2 sets at different times.

Yes I am thinking of that now m8. Making 2 shifts. If there is much time between them 5 will go into the FC a day earlier, must mark them.

A I am SO excited, rolling myself in this site and in the "grow the mushroom"energy... Cant wait.
Want too much too quick maybe. Am thinking of rye-casings, and making own syringes.

Great hobby this is gonna be if it works out fine! :laugh: And with the help of the people here I MUST succeed!! :thumbup:

What I say on the posts is not true!!I never grew,ingested,or distributed mushrooms of any kind.In fact I don't even know what a mushroom is.
