Being a beginner(I assume?), you need to just stick to basics for now. Your substrate will shrink considerably even after your first flush, so obviously you will want to fill in those gaps with casing material. If you are in between flushes you can resume your direct mistings on the casing surface until pins form again. Yes, I have heard of the treatment you are talking about, but I have only tried a BRF injection which worked reasonably well for me(I did lose one casing to contams tho)...Like I said, I'd just stick to basics for now.

Mist them until they pin again. That is all.

thanks..
as you can see, I'm trying to advance from beginner, trying to see what I can do to ensure higher yields. Any other advice anyone on how to keep up production?"
by the way, how long does a cased cake last for typically?
thanks to all..

Sounds flakey, but it depends on the strain alot of times...what strain are you growing?
Average is around a month from the first pins...

Yeah, misting the pins will cause that. It basically tricks them into thinking they are mature when they obviously aren't.
I would definitely cut off the suspected contams and paste a little baking soda on them...you don't want one raunchy cake to spoil the whole batch.
What kind of terrarium setup do you have?

AFOAF has a 11 gallon plasticw/ perlite humidity tek, a small 1/2 inch hole cut about 3 inches from the base for some air exchange, and a heating pad below, Thermometer inside, fanned about 3 to 6 times a day. using 100% natural diffused sunshine. She lives in a very dry place and at altitude, and does A LOT of snowboarding, in fact, there's one chairlift running right now... Terrerium is dripping inside on all surfaces.
AFOAF sometimes wonders if the lower oxygen amount in the air here has anything to do with the little guys. She says things are cool, but has trouble getting babies taller than 2 - 2 1/2 inches... Sometimes Ramsey tek foil rips as cap is screwed on, resulting in lost jar to contams, nail holes are poking through ramsey foil/ verm layer as well- any suggestions? Flip lid so nail hole edge is upward perhaps?
Rust on rings and caps? Contam issue?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated...

If you really want to use the Ramsey seal, put the verm layer underneath the foil instead of on top.
If your terrarium is dripping on all sides, your humidity is most likely at or near 100%...that needs to come down to around 92-95%. Try moving the heating pad to either the top or the side of the container...the heat is causing the water soaked perlite to condensate too much.
