perlite vs. humidifier

I recently stopped by at petco and saw the "tropicaire humidifier" which also produces fresh air exchange. are these filtered enough so that it wont be sucking in contams to my casing? Ive been hand spraying in the past so should i try this or would i have a lower risk of contams with perlite? and also if im using casings, do i need such an extensive means of humidification?

I doubt these don't even come close to supplying sufficient RH. Also The air would introduce contams if not filtered with at least a 99.97% HEPA. GL with it :wink:

I'm having pretty good luck with just perlite, airstone, and verm casing - in a tub, on the floor with occaisional fanning.

No filter, open to room while fanning. No contams as yet. Maybe my front room is super clean or something. Strange cause the bedroom next door is a microbial zoo.

I'm with Hambo. Using perlite in a tub on the floor with occasional fanning. No filter, the room it's in is far from sterile, you must be living in the room next door Hambo, because the room I'm fruiting in is a microbial zoo.

I just don't see the sense in buying myself an $80 or more set up for air exchange at this point. When I have a larger grow area and am working on more projects at once then this will be looked at, but while I'm still doing only a few cakes (22) and a couple casings I'm not going to do it.
