hey all. i have been growing weed for years, and would like to try my hand at growing mushrooms. now, i know from overgrow and the like how bloody annoying it is when newbies come on here and ask questions that could be answered easier faster and better by just reading a grow guide. well i have read the grow guides, but it seems pretty specific to me. i live with a roommate who is a goody-two shoes, so i must do this in absolute secrecy. i dont have any part of the house which is "mine" (we even share the bedroom, and closets)
so, is there a veeerry cheap, veeeerry easy, and veeeery maintenance free way to grow shrooms? i was looking at the old "canning jar" idea, is this the best route? what are the best kinds of mushrooms to get/spores to buy?
sorry again, but i tried to make this post as straight-forward as possible.

Go for the PF/MMGG tech its the easiest for a beginner, and is pretty cheap considering some alternatives. You can hide the jars under your bed if you have to and employ the hippie tech to fruit.
Ah what the hell, go visit www.fanaticus.com, you can get $10 spore syringes and info on the pf tech and hippie tech.
*I in no way support the above vendor or website. This is not an endorsement.
I can see a world where this is no poverty and no war, I can also see us attacking that world because they would never expect it.

have you checked out invitro growing? http://mycotopia.yage.net has a lot of info about it; its run by hippie, who came up w/ the invitro tek. its about as secretive as you can come by. www.fanaticus.com also has a link to hippie's invitro tek and stats on it to check out. anything else youll need a terrarium that you will either be tied to by hand fanning, or a more automatic setup which still can be noticed... either way your roomie will stumble onto them...
best spores? check out the spore vendor forum for opinions on vendors; most everyone has an opinion on the the most popular/reliable ones out there. perhaps pf original would be a good one to grow invitro if you *do* grow that way; again, id check over at mycotopia, read some threads on what they recommend for growing invitro. (never tried it on purpose- pf's original, sporechicks' mexican (NOT mexicana), and sporechicks' south americans have all pinned invitro for HQ, but she wasnt trying for that- others may as well but she doesnt know for sure...)
gluck... ::grin::

THE best tek is the PF-Tek it's easy and the best for someone who's never done it...
If you don't have your own room, it could be a little tricky. I think the best would be something like a steamer trunk, to your desired size, and transform the insides into a terarrium.The good thing about these is that they can be locked, holes can be drilled to allow electric cords for the timer and light. If you don't feel like building an actual terrarium you can buy a rubbermaid 18gallon storage bin and that should work fine when you cut a hole in the top to allow light in. After you do the Pf-tek once or 2ce and you see how the life cycle of a mushroom looks, move on to more "difficult" teks like casing. This is just my opinion there are others who would tell you to case for your 1st time. But this is the easiest way from start to finnish and it's almost goof-proof if you read the directions. peace i hope i helped
