low tech....or high tech
    #558005 - 02/20/02 11:07 PM (23 years, 4 months ago)

after much testing, my friend has determined that his very nice ultrasonic with all its timers and gadgets is getting to be too much to worry about.

1. is perlite pretty reliable as far as, just stick it in there....keep the right amount of water, and fan a few times a day? his ultra-sonic is really nice and it SEEMS to be doing alright but he may have to go for the ease of perlite....or maybe just try another terr. using perlite and see what happens.

2. is 1.5 in of perlite a good number.....even if the space is pretty large?

he may just be getting paranoid as it has been about 4 days in the terr (yes, its early still) and he is just getting more fluffy white

3. also, as far as cakes and casings.....how would he use perlite in both of these situations? add a bubbler for cakes?

i seem to like the results better during my first couple of attempts using rubbermaids and perlite. it was SOOOOO much easier.
i too now have a ultrasonic and timer and i'm just getting it down i think. the first flush i did in my new ultrasonic grow room was horrible results, high humidity, lots of abhorts, overlay due to extensive vegetative growth caused by too high humidty.
the perlite is very reliable though. every couple of days i would pour some h202 in. just give a acouple of days i think you will be pleasantly surprised with perlite!!!

well, my friend just got his perlite chamber set up and he likes it, no worries about timers and messing everything up. the humidity immidiately went up to HI% on his hygromometer. looks all good, will this be alright for cakes and casings? not really sure if it is over 95% because there is very low condensation. now should he have to fan like 5 times a day since there is no air x-change? he has a fish tank air pump but he heard pumping air in and out of a perlite set-up may make the humidity too low. should he use a bubbler stone inside and have a growing level exhaust?
