Ultrasonic Humidifier Problem
    #3250997 - 10/19/04 09:47 AM (19 years, 5 months ago)

I just bought a brand new Vicks ultrasonic humidifier for my Martha setup. My problem is the humidifier will not produce the foggy mist at times even though the unit is on and running (in other words, mist goes on and off frequently). I am trying to determine whether it is a manufacturer's defect, or it may have something to do with my hose setup. The mist output is 2 1/4" diameter, and is connected to a 3/4" diameter by 3' long rubber hose leading to the Martha closet. Can the condensation drip-back inside the hose be related to this problem?

That is because the hose is dipping and the water collects at the bottom blocking it off.

If the tube goes up down and up again, gravity will settle the water in the dip of the tube.

You have to have the tube go Up and down or just up or just down.

Yeap, no low points or water collects and clogs.

No, my hose runs straight up just like in Citric's pics, so my drip-back goes right back into the humidifier. So is it a manufacturer's defect?

I don't know.

Does it humidify at all? When I had a problem it was because the hose dipped and I didn't know that would stop it. If it dips at all, the hose will not give out mist once the water fills the dip of the hose. Are you sure there aren't any downward curves??

Take a picture of the hose and post it. Contact the manufacturer if neccesary.

I had this problem too. Did you cut your hose at an angle? If you're using a smaller hose and cut it straight......the water beads up there and clogs it.

Make sure to cut the hose at an angle if you're using a smaller hose.

that's my 2 cents

Okay, here are pics of my Marth setup with my 2 Vicks humidifiers. So is it my hose setup or the humidifier?
