He wrote the music. Check out Diga Rhythym band- the original is on it. I don't think he wrote the lyrics though- pretty sure it was Hunter.  :sun:

Hart wrote the music originally (originally just a rhythm concept) and Hunter wrote the melody and the lyrics. There were originally more verses than the three Garcia chose to sing however. There was a literal fire that inspired the lyrics, it was a wildfire that nearly burned some of Hart?s ranch.
