I think this is very debatable. It depends so much on dose, and perhaps how much you've eaten in the day, etc.

One time, I ate about 30grams fresh, right off the cake. I had a nice, medium strength trip with great visuals that lasted (almost exactly) 3 hours. There wasn't really a comedown, and there weren't really any after effects. I noticed this the first 3 times I shroomed. 3-4.5 hours and then it just stopped in almost an instant.

This last time I did it, I had 5 grams (maybe more, no good scale). They were taken at 3pm, peaking possibly from 4:30 to 7:00. However, I was still tripping long after that. I continued to have extremely vivid, colorful closed eyes visuals. At around 9:30 I was still tripping, but I felt fine being in public, I was coming down so I could handle myself.

Although I'm well aware of the importance of set and setting (past experiences), and I did have those down for most of the trip, sometimes at the end, after being through so much you just feel that you need to be somewhere else, change of scene, seeing your friends, etc.

So, I found myself at the Sears Tower, (whaaa?) with my friends. After my belt set off the metal detector, and security checked me, and I kept my cool, I figured I was fairly down. We went to the second floor to wait in line. Turns out the walls are bright blue and yellow, and theres hundreds of people from all over the world speaking so many languages, in a long winding line. and they take your picture for security. at 9:30 My head started spinning and things started fading. I tried to tell my friends I needed to sit down. Then I was out.

My body fell, and was caught. My mind was in another place, no idea of my physical being, the world, who or where I am, etc. Sort of a two dimensional place where theres this feeling of everything being okay, almost death related.. hard to explain. I was there for a long time. My friends say I got to my feet and walked myself out of the line to the side and laid down.

Don't remember that, and I came to in a cold sweat with security people taking my pulse and talking about paramedics (who we got called off). Turned out okay, but I was still tripping. I continued to trip until around 10:10, and it was all comedown after that.

Sorry about the long story.. it got way off topic, but I don't think I've posted it, and it started.. so I finished it up. It does have a point though. It really lasted from 3:00 to past 11:00, if you include the comedown. Thats a long time. I thought I was down long before. Be careful of your state of consciousness. You might not be nearly as sober as you think you are.

Just thought I'd post what I thought was an out of the ordinary length trip. I can edit it if you want.. these FAQ topics tend to like to stay very close to topic.

Also, last weeks questions all had to do with physical and psychological problems with shrooms.

That information NEEDS to be acurate... but there is little available info.

All I can put in is my experience.
My first trip was about five dried grams maybe a little more, duration three and a half to four hours.
Next, I blew the lid off with nine dried grams, in that experiment I tripped for a solid six hours and then woke up after having passed out from the intensity.
Then, I had a quarter(I think it was eight dried grams exactly) that I bought from a Widespread Panic show. These shrooms sucked, duration about three hours.
Another trip of mine I spent out in nature camping with my friends. I ate about three to four dried grams and they were awesome, duration five plus hours.
It really matters about the amount you consume, sometimes, sometimes amount means little. There is really no way to answer this question.
If you want to use levels then a level one doesn't last long.
Level two from one to two hours.
Level three two to four hours.
Level four four to five hours.
Level five five hours plus.
But I have never agreed with the level system, or how some people say they peak so quickly, I find that my peak comes near the end when I am three hours or so into a good trip. I hear so many trips where they began to peak quickly and then came down and had a bad trip, they were still tripping. It seems to me that the effect comes in waves and some are stronger than others or that they build up and become more intense. Anways, sorry to get off topic, I know Cervantes will flame me now for sure.

An average mushroom trip requires less mushrooms and lasts longer when potentiated with an MAOI (taken 20-30 minutes before ingesting the mushrooms). SSRIs decreases the effects of mushrooms and may make it shorter though I can't remember whether or not it did when I was on them.
