what kind of "magic mushrooms" are you growing. ive never heard of people using it in the substrate for pslocybins but it works with panealeous species.

Get dry dung.
get a large pot.
get a pillow case.
put pillow case in the large pot with the edges around the pot so the pillow case is now open. fill 3/4 full with dung (you could add some vermiculite if you want) and take the top of the pillow case and twist it closed. fill the pot with H2O and soak for a few hours. top off the H2O but not so high that it will spill out and bring up the heat. pasturise for 45 minutes to an hour or so, but DO NOT LET THE TEMP EXCEED 175 DEGREES! anywhere from 160 to 175 will sufice. afte5r it is done just let it cool and drain on an oven rack placed over yor sink. thats what the majority of shroomers that use dung do and they have great results. from there just place it(cool) into your casing container and spawn with whatever you have......birdseed, ground up cakes, rye berries etc. This will work great for panelous species and you will trip balls watching somthing like a B+ cubensis rip through this. case as you would any other substrate and enjoy.

But it doesn't work as well for cubes? If not, is it bad, or just not as good as with other strains?

i have seen cubes (B+) rip the fuck out of dung. very risomorphic growth. my friend has just cased and sen no fruits, but I would bet the house on it. dont forget my friend has seen pan trops and cyans go through it to and dung favors all of these species.

Why do idiots still call cow dung a casing?? Cow dung is used for spawn, read the definition of a casing.

I am an idiot:)~
for me the dung would be a substrate. seed/rye would be the spawn and coir or 50/50+ would be what this is cased with. when it is all said and finished then the whole loaf or pan or bucket or tray or ryches magic tuperware would be the casing when viewed in comparison to cakes. peace
