Really nice!
Where do you put them in order to give them enough humidity ?

I put them in a big plastic box. I'll take a photo of it.

Do you keep the lid closed, when growing the mushrooms ?
I just wonder cause they might not get enough light and fresh air ?
And how do you keep the moisture up ?

P.S.: I have got the same plastic box as you  :smirk:

Hi ragadinks.

No, the lid is not closed. You could see in the first picture. There are also few holes in the lid and the box. In addition to that I exchange the air two or three times a day...
Because of the light: do they really need so much? I read that there have to be only so much light, that you could read a newspaper or so.
How do you grow your mushrooms?

SL

Ps: Where do you came from?

> No, the lid is not closed. You could see in the first picture. There are also few holes in the lid and the box.
But you leave the blue lid on top of the box like on the picture ?
And where is the box situated ? On the floor of a room in front of a window ?

> Because of the light: do they really need so much?
It depends on the strain. But pulmonarius usually likes a lot of light.
Mine always tend to grow towards the light and on the side that is away from the window they often do not grow at all.
> I read that there have to be only so much light, that you could read a newspaper or so.
Yes, that's all relative - you also can read a newspaper in moonlight - but that would definitely not be enough light for oysters.
(And it would't be very good for the health of your eyes anyway .)

> How do you grow your mushrooms?
Some I have grown like you do - in plastic boxes and some I grew outside in the garden and others in bags.
As substrate I have tried different woods, wood fuel pellets, cardboard, beer, straw, paper and coffee - always depends on the strain, time of year and the kind of experiment ...

> Where do you came from?
I come from austria - guess we are neighbors ?

Yes, i do. The box stands in my livingroom near a window. Think there's enough light.

Yesterday I harvested half of the pioppinos. Thought they get a bit bigger. The biggest of them only had a diameter of 3cm... Any ideas why they are so small? Not enough moisture or not enough light?
The taste was indeed really good! :ooo:

I do not think that there are not enough nutrients in your substrate mix.
So I think that either the humidity is to low or there is not enough light or fresh air - or a mixture of all of these factors.
I also have these problems when I grow indoors in my living room ...
But different species react very different to the growing conditions and I have never grown Agrocybe aegerita.
Here aare the growing parameters of Agrocybe aegerita - maybe this helps ...

The Black Poplar or Brown Swordbelt is about my favorite mushroom that is easy to cultivate. It's so much fun and TASTEY! I like how it has a slighly sweet flavor, rather than the traditional earthy mushroom flavor. Goes really well in pastas and stir fry's.

Great grow but they can definitely get bigger than that. Try adding more wood matter to your compost mixture, or using a wood chip based substrate next time around.

Are you growing them in bags ?
I have inoculated some bags now and wonder how to make a small indoor environment suitable for the growth of different species.
