Howdie Folks,
Agrocybe aegerita, a great tasting edible mushroom! Here are pictures of it in our ghetto chamber grown using the small Wood Based MycoBags from MycoBag.com. New MycoKits are now available that will duplicate these results without much difficulty! Fruiting is helped if your temps are slightly lower than normal.. say shiitake-like ranges.

Two days later....

I was quite surprised by the taste of these mushrooms. Sauteed in butter (some salt and pepper) they were a great side dish. Meaty, but with a "sweet" flavor. This is probably one of my more favorite mushrooms, can't wait to try it in a variety of dishes. Anybody have suggestions? Information on these is hard to come by. I do know they supposedly have some anti-tumor properties.

Excellent..
Those are some nice blocks of substrate you're growing them from.
Are those Reishi's in the backround fruiting too?

We are finding the matrix used in these bags to be amazing at supporting the growth of a variety of species.
Reishi in the background of the first picture (same bag matrix) and in the back of the second picture is a pinning block of more Agrocybes on their second flush. Should have pictures from these up tomorrow.

How long did it take from inoculation to fruiting?

Here's a LINK to the prefabbed and presterilized bag we used. It's the same bag that has been used to grow Reishi, Shiitake, Oysters, Lion's Manes, and Agrocybes. We suspect it will support the growth of many other species as well.
I'm not sure what the exact ingredients are, that's a MycoBag secret. But it does involved pre-cooked hardwood "shreds" along with other minor additives.

These guys often fruit off MEA alone- i have three isolates and all three regularly throw off fruits in hot summer temps in ceiled petris... Great tasting too - especially outdoors on a buried manure enriched wood chip substrate...

They remind me of Nameko mushrooms. Those are real tasty as well. I dont have this species. Does it need realy high humidity?
