DUNG BROTHERS RESULTS
    #310038 - 05/05/01 04:19 PM (23 years, 7 months ago)

I purchased my dung brothers kit weeks ago and i finally harvested my first flush. WOW!!!! I got a lot of massive shrooms the first flush, i used B+. The bags of rye took about two weeks to colonize but the shit took only a week or so. Then i let sit by a window and a week later mini pins appeared , and a week after that i harvested dozens of huge beautiful mushrooms. They are drying now so i dont know the weight yet. But i weight a few of the wet ones and they weighed like 20-35 grams wet each. Not all of them of course, but the bigger ones did. This kit is very nice , but i do have a PROBLEM, i have two spots of green mold and i cut them out but they grew back even worse than befor. Does anyone know how to stop this green mold, its gonna ruin my second flush???? HELP

Oh and that water build up that comes up a few inches on the bottom goes away after the first flush

It sounds like that kit is working out for you. Be sure to keep us updated on your results. I'm interested in hearing what kind of yield you get with this flush and future flushes. The green mold sounds like it could be a big problem. It is pretty difficult to combat. Good luck. Hopefully others can offer some advice.

Good job, man! Post them pics as soon as you can!

Um, I'm worried about the green mold thing for you. I think you have to cut out the mold quite a bit arround where you can see it, because it's mycelium are bigger than it's fruiting surface area (the green part). WATCH OUT!!!!

P.S. Oh, yeah, and don't worry if the dreaded trych kills everything in the world. At least you got a nice first flush!

I have heard that a mixture of h2o2 and water will help kill the mold. Just take a Q-tip, dip into the mixture (not sure of the ratio of h2o2 to water, maybe 1 to 1) then put it on the mold. Let the mold soke up the solution from the Q-tip like a sponge. Hope that helps!

that only works for cobweb mold. green mold is very very difficult to get rid of. cut out about an inch around it, and deep into the substrate. then maybe the peroxide will work, but its very doubtful. i think it could be lost :(
good luck and sorry to hear

i cut out a wayz past where i saw the green mold and put alchohol on the part i cut away from, then i set it on fire, and almost melted the dung brothers box. I was hopin the burning alcohol would sanatize the mycelium , and kill some of it of course, let ya know if it works

not a bad idea, but sounds pretty dangerous if you ask me. thats very very damaging to the mycelium, and it may have a really hard time recovering if it even does recover. good luck with it though

not a good idea, really.

here's how you can get rid of your green mold .. (the next time you get it cause i think you burned everything up right??? ) get yourself to a Radio Shack and purchase one of their fine saudering irons(is that how you spell it??) anyway .. once you get that puppy home crank it up to max and burn your green meanies... then you cut them out and burn the inside walls of the hole you made... peace and good luck

go fish

Glad you had a nice first flush Treeoflife. Any chance of pictures ?
Well, its a bummer your project got hit by trichoderma. Its very important to keep your hands and arms clean when harvesting those mushrooms to help prevent this.

Trichoderma is certainly one of the hardest molds to beat. H202 does not work. Alcohol only slows it down.
The problem with trich is it turns green when its spreading spores. The mold is actually much bigger under the surface then you can see.
This may sound pretty generic, but our friend showed us it works with these kits sometimes. With clean hands, reach down in there and grab out a big scoop of compost from all around the infected area. Keep a big ziplock bag handy close to the surface, to drop the infected compost it in. This helps it from spreading as your pulling it away. Scoop out more then an inch around the infected area. Like I said, the green part you see is actually the only part of the mold. So dont be shy, just dig out a big chunk of it. Dont touch any other part of the compost until after you have sterilized your hands from touching the infected area. Then go back and patch things up a bit if needed.
Most of the time this will work, but trichoderma is a hard mold to beat.

TreeofLife, are you saying you wont buy anymore kits because it got contaminated? I hope your not blaming that on us.
Anyway, save your receipt kit #, were going to be offering a discount to repeat customers soon.
