Ok ill get right to the point. Went through my neighbors cow pasture for the hell of it (i live in Maine) so i wasnt expecting to find anything at all just looking. found some smal lbms and shit. But growing right off this cow shit patty was this mushroom..
Let me desrcibe it-
Habitat cow patty middle of a field
The gills were brown
the cap was 2 1/4 inches
stem was short and white
the caps color was a deep tan in the middle then fading to a white almost purplish color on the outer part of the cap
havent done a spore sprint yet
and here we go folks it bruised blue near the base of the stem and the middle the cap did alittle to.
smells kinda uhh.. shitty.
Ok call me crazy but this seems to resemble P.Cubensis a hole lot but they dont grow up north so im confused.

Could be a couple of things. I cant understand why there would be blue bruising.
The only two mushrooms that come to my head that bruise blue and could be found in that area are Pan. subbalteatus and Ps. semilanceata. Both will not be growing from cow dung and Pan. subbalteatus (the more likely one) will have black spores, and not purple.
You've got other things like Ps. coprophila and other various types of Panaeolus, however they are not active and will not bruise blue.
Im stumped. Are you sure they bruised blue?

my scanner really blows sorry.. i got more of the picture of them layin out on a napkin..
its gotta be P.Cubensis
but im so skeptical about chewin them down casue everyone seems confused...

Do they have veils around the stems?
What color are the gills, and what is the sporeprint color.
I dont know if your screwing with me or not, but, they really do look like Ps. cubensis...

In the first post you mentioned that you found one mushroom. How many did you find, and were they growing together or seperate?

Sporeprint is brown got a very weak sporeprint but it appears to be brown. i found 4 of these and they were seperate 1 was growin right from the ground. I dunno is there even the slightest chance cubensis can grow in maine.. and what the fuck is a veil

There was a little piece of like mushroom skin or something ina ring when i got it i just tore it off. is that the veil.

I dont know, but, it sure looks to be a Ps. cubensis... I just dont get it though.
It might be a fluke, but, in MAINE??!
Im trying to think of any stropharia's bruise blue... I cant remember off hand.
Id just dry them or put them in a paper bag in the fridge and wait till some others come along.
