Thanks for all these links Learyfan. I love hearing The Dead cover Beatles songs. It seems like they've been doing a Beatles song the majority of their shows recently. Just out ot the three shows I saw this summer I got to hear a Tomorrow Never Knows and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. And I remember an excellent Blackbird from Red Rocks last summer with Bob on acoustic. There are so many Beatles songs that are such a treat to hear covered by The Dead.

I have a version of the Dead playing Hey Jude from around late 60's or very early 70's with Pig Pen singing, it's a classic!

Seems the band just kicked the song around the night before for the first time and broke it out the next night so it's a bit rough and tumble but still so great with Pig's soulful voice!

I've definately heard that...prbably from the same show as you, I don't think it was a very common song for them to play.

I thought "Hey Jude" was a fairly common Dead/Beatles cover. It's on "Live Without A Net", right? Anyway, that's one of my least favorite Beatles songs.

hey Jude was only done 3 times twice in 1969 and once in 1990 When Jerry was alive that is, it may have been done after his death.
