i like oatmeal the first few bites then it starts to get nasty for some reason.. tastes kinda like flavored cardboard

Can you grow edibles on grain? I'm clueless. I need to really get that going.  I'm thinking Shiitakes look fairly simple. Buy a log, throw it in a closet.....
