Hi, I was wondering what people around here use hops for. I have only used it to make tea before, where I just have dried the buds and cooked tea on them. So how do you use\prepare your hops ?

You can graft hops onto a marijuana root stalk, and have hops that produces THC. This is why its hard to find cuttings on the internet.

I thought that was just net gossip..?
Anyway, there are hops growing everywhere around here, in old hedges. I'd also like to know what you people recommend for them...

I have heard this rumor before, I have also heard that stingin nettle (Urtica dioica) can do this too. I dont know, it sounds a little bit unlogical to me.

This is a myth. THC is produced in the trichomes of the plant, THC is not a cellular material nor is it a plant hormone or conducted in the vascular system.

Nicotine however is producedi n the roots of tobacco plants and one can get detectable nicotine levels in grafts to the tobacco plant, because the nicotine in the roots is transported throughout the vascular system.

could you then, in theory, graft pot onto a nicotiana and have nicotine in your herb? that wuld solve so many minor setbacks.

I doubt you could graft the two, but if it were possible, hypothetically, i suspect you'd have nicotine in your post.

Hops contains Lupalin which is a chemical related to THC (whatever that means). lupalin is the active Chem in the stuff. I have heard it is close to anger horomones too (not sure). I have tried it and the high is lame (to me at least).

It is in the same family as weed.

Hops can be smoked, made into a tea or be brewed as an ingrediant (or strait up made) in beer.

What type of effect does the tea or the smoke of hops give? Just curious.

I drink hop tea whenever I cant sleep. If I have smoked cannabis for a while and runs out I often gets a night with no sleep or when I sleep and constant move and wakes up all the time during the night , then a cup of hop tea works wonder.

I would make a batch of beer if I were you! I'd love to brew with some fresh hops? although it would be difficult to control the level of bitterness without knowing the strain or alpha acid level.

It may be possible to graft marijuana budsites onto hops vines.

This would produce an inoccous vine that produces smokeable buds.

Theoretically.

really strange i came across this subject.night befor last i had an odd dream about people tilling fields apparently under force of some sort of controlling group.at the end of the dream some sort of authority which were just average citizens with the authority to take people into custody were trying to sell something that looked like hops saying it was like cannabis.I drank a guiness before going to bed too.I live in an agricultural area and the college near me has a big ag dept.they grow all sorts of shit mainly corn.about 13 years ago some friends called me up saying they found marijuana growing in the corn fields at the university.we went to check it out .in the middle of one of the corn fields there was a plot of some odd hops plants growing.that did resemble marijuana but was definately some sort of hops .the leaves were more like a cannabis plant and the hops buds were more dense than usual.interesting post has got me really thinking now.

Hops is a vine, not a free standing plant.

That makes it even stranger that you point that out.I clearly remember that the plants were not held by any stake ans that they were free standing. When i first saw the pics of the hops plants above i noticed they were vining. The plants in the corn fields leaves were nearly identical to the plants pictured above but were more slender like cannabis. The berries did hang off the plant the same way though and were nearly identical to what was there. We took some home with us and a friend identified it as hops. But the berries/buds were more dense like marijuana buds. And also the plants in that plot werent there by anyone other than someone from the school. As far as you can see there was corn.but out in the middle out of view of the roads was the plot of the hops in neat rows with equipment surrounding.not intermixed with the corn at all.the entire corn field was and is still irrigated with ground pumps and those automated aerial sprinklers that roll through the fields.Makes me wonder wtf was going on out there.Horticultural experimentation endorsed by the state?weird. The plants stalks were fibrous just like hemp too.
