Neil Young - After The Goldrush
    #3025499 -

Time for a tune from the man I owe my name (real name) to!

Neil Young - After The Goldrush

Well I dreamed I saw the knights in armor coming,
Saying something about a queen.
There were peasants singing
And drummers drumming
And the archer split the tree.
There was a fanfare blowing to the sun,
That was floating on the breeze.
Look at Mother Nature on the run,
In the nineteen seventies...
Look at Mother Nature on the run,
In the nineteen seventies...

I was lying in a burned out basement
With the full moon in my eyes
I was hoping for replacement
When the sun burst through the sky.
There was a band playing in my head
And I felt like getting high!
I was thinking about what a friend had said,
I was hoping it was a lie.
Thinking about what a friend had said,
I was hoping it was a lie.

Well I dreamed I saw the silver space ships flying
In the yellow haze of the sun,
There were children crying
And colours flying
All around the chosen ones.
All in a dream, all in a dream
The loading had begun
Flying Mother Nature's silver seed to a new home in the sun.
Flying Mother Nature's silver seed to a new home.

As modernman took control
There mind's weren't all the same
And to conquer was their goal
So he built his great empire
And he slaughtered his own kind
He died a confused man
And killed himself in his own mind"

Definitely one of mine, too!

Apparently my father was quite the Neil Young nut, as well...enough so that he named me after the man :smirk:

That's one of my favorite songs by him. The whole album is great but I prefer the album Harvest.

My two favs:

Heart of Gold

I wanna live, I wanna give
I?ve been a miner for a heart of gold
It?s these expressions I never give
That keep me searchin? for a heart of gold,

And I?m gettin? old
Keeps me searchin? for a heart of gold,
And I?m gettin? old

I?ve been to Hollywood, I?ve been to Redwood
I?d cross the ocean for a heart of gold
I?ve been in my mind, it?s such a fine line
That keeps me searchin? for a heart of gold,
And I?m gettin? old
Keeps me searchin? for a heart of gold,
And I?m gettin? old

Keep me searchin? for a heart of gold,
Keep me searchin? And I?m growin? old
Keep me searchin? for a heart of gold,
I?m just a miner for a heart of gold

Old Man

Old man, look at my life
I?m a lot like you were

Old man, look at my life
Twenty-four and there?s so much more
Live alone in a paradise
That makes you think of two

Love lost, such a cost
Give me things that don?t get lost
Like a coin that won?t get tossed
Rollin? home to you

Old man, take a look at my life, I?m a lot like you
I need someone to love me the whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes and you can tell that?s true

Lullaby, look in your eyes
Run around the same old ground
Doesn?t mean that much to me
To mean that much to you

I?ve been first and last
Look at how the time goes past
But I?m all alone at last
Rollin? home to you

 Neil is beautiful!

All her friends call her Little Wing
But she flies rings around them all
She comes to town when the children sing
And leaves them feathers if they fall
She leaves her feathers if they fall

Little Wing, don't fly away
When the summer turns to fall
Don't you know some people say
The winter is the best time of them all
Winter is the best of all.

...weird, cause I decided to hit the bong before heading in to work today and then picked a CD for the long walk...so I walk into work, turn ont he computer, fire up the shroomery,a nd the first thing I see is exactly what I'm listening to.

morning all!  :sun:

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.
