Neil Young (love!)

So Neil recently came out with an album called 1971: Live at Massey Hall.  It's a pretty big deal in Toronto because we love Neil.  He's like a homegrown hero.  Last night and also the night before, he played a concert at....Massey Hall!

Every single radio station in the city has been playing Neil Young tracks non stop, there was a 3 page spread about his life and times in the newspaper...it's Neil MANIA.  I'm a little bit sad that I didn't get to go to the concert.  It was sold out in like, hours. 

Love for Neil, the original rock and roll cowboy.  :heart:

Neil Young is awesome. I was listening to Tonight's the Night last night. Do you have that album? "Albequerque" brought a tear to my eye.

But no way he's not the original Rock and Roll cowboy you gotta give that to Hank Williams, Sr. :thumbup:

I'm trying to get into his shows in a couple of weeks here in NYC I know a couple of people who work with the venue where he's playing but tix are 75 bucks or so. Yipes. Worth it to see him before he croaks. Morbid I know but the man is a god to me and he's gonna die and I need to see him live before he does.

Easily one of my favorite artists of all time.

I'm reading the Mansion on the Hill right now, a book about how rock and roll became a business out of its fledgling underground roots, and Neil is just fucking awesome. Man set out with one goal: to become rich and famous. And along the way, he became one of the seminal artists of our time, an artist willing to confound critics and his fans by taking off in new directions even when he knew the records wouldn't sell. Kudos, Neil.

Never seem him live before, but alot of people say he is great to see..

A friend was telling me about his first neil young show he went to. He said their was a guy in the front row clapping and whistling screaming and being overly excited. So neil pointed to him and said on the mic "how much do i have to pay you to leave right now? seriously, i dont want you here." my friend said he was blown away by how much of a dickhead neil was to the guy about it.. he said it was his favorite show he'd ever seen.

Im a fan of his music, but wouldnt pay a hundred to see him.

And i think it was in the 90s he was named "the godfather of grunge", which i think is more fitting considering how the guy plays electric guitar

He also shares the same first name as me so im coo like that:cool:

At the same time that Neil is the godfather of grunge (an apt title I think especially considering how much PJ, etc, looked and look up to him) he's really gone back to his folk rock roots lately. Have you heard Prairie Wind? Chilling and sparse and beautiful...I need to listen to Chrome Dreams II, I have it at home but just haven't cracked into it yet.

Neil definitely rocks.. saw him play with Crosby, Stills, and Nash at the Hollywood Bowl last year. A wonderful treat that was!

yes old neil is a legend, saw him back in 1988 or so, finished playing while breaking each string on his guitar 1 by 1, continued to play while down to 1 string, broke it, threw the guitar down and left, crowd was going insane

yah we got a few good shows up in NH when i was a young hellraiser, i remember seeing journery on their "escape" tour in portland maine, around the same time, good area to grow up
